The Faculty of Science, Menoufia University, organized a scientific symposium under the auspices of Dr. Adel Mubarak, President of the University, Dr. Adel Nassar, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Hani Abdel Hamid, Vice Dean for Community Service Affairs, in the presence of Professor Dr. Hassan Eliwa, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research. Al-Masry" with the aim of spreading awareness of the seriousness of the disease and how to deal with patients and protect ourselves from infection, as the number of Alzheimer's patients in Egypt has reached 400 thousand patients, and it is expected that the number will continue to increase to reach one million patients by 2030. The symposium dealt with a thorough explanation of Alzheimer's disease, explaining that it is a progressive neurological disorder that leads to brain shrinkage (atrophy) and the death of its cells. It is the most common cause of dementia. It is a condition that involves a persistent decrease in the ability to think and to forget recent events or conversations. With the exacerbation of the disease, the person with Alzheimer's disease feels severely impaired in memory and loses the ability to perform daily tasks. of toxic substances. Neurons become damaged, lose communication with each other, and eventually die. The symposium confirmed that Alzheimer's disease occurs in most people due to a group of genetic and environmental factors related to lifestyle and affects the brain over time. In order to prevent disease, the symposium urged the need to exercise regularly, eat balanced meals of fresh products, healthy oils, and foods low in saturated fats, such as the Mediterranean diet, regular bedtimes and be careful to go to sleep early, maintain thinking skills at age by participating in social activities, reading, and playing games. Board games, creativity, and other activities that require mental and social engagement.
