Last week, the "Intellectual Forum of the Information and Decision Support Center in the Council of Ministers" was launched, under the auspices of Mr. Osama Al-Gohary - Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Center, which will be held periodically; With the aim of discussing and discussing political, economic, social and technological developments, local, regional and international, and their repercussions on the Egyptian state, in a way that supports the decision-making process in Egypt at a large number of levels, its first session was held under the title: Achieving financial discipline and financial sustainability in Egypt and the optimal policy mix on Thursday, December 8 2022, in which a group of intellectuals participated, led by Dr. Ahmed Kojak, Deputy Minister of Finance for Financial Policies, Dr. Catherine Bayer, Deputy Director of the Fiscal Policy Department at the International Monetary Fund, Dr. Gouda Abdel Khalek, Professor of Economics at Cairo University and member of the Economic Committee - Representative of the National Dialogue, and Dr. Hani The economist's garden.


Where the session discussed a number of priority topics, including the repercussions imposed by successive global economic crises on the financial policy situation in many countries of the world, especially developing countries and emerging market economies, in addition to the efforts made in Egypt in terms of achieving financial discipline and financial sustainability, and medium frameworks. The scope for managing fiscal policy, in addition to the priorities of fiscal policy in the coming period, and the most prominent reforms required to enhance financial discipline and ensure financial sustainability, in addition to shedding light on the importance and effectiveness of the citizen’s budget, and the Egyptian citizen’s vision of the performance of fiscal policy and his future aspirations.


After each session, the Information and Decision Support Center prepared a pop-up document containing the most important recommendations of experts on the topics under discussion, and presented it to the Prime Minister. This would continuously activate channels of interaction between the government and a large number of stakeholders and experts in areas of priority for the Egyptian government.
