The British Times Higher Education World Classification Report 2022 (Times Higher Education) confirmed that Egyptian higher education institutions advanced with an average score of about 11 points higher, and thus Egyptian universities are among the fastest rising institutions of higher education in the world.
The report highlighted the increase in the number of Egyptian universities listed in the classification this year 2022 to reach 23 universities.
The report pointed out that Egypt ranked first in the Arab world in terms of the number of universities listed in the Times classification this year, as Egypt ranked first with 23 universities.

It is noteworthy that the number of Egyptian universities in the Times classification for 2016 amounted to 3 universities, in 2017 it reached 8 universities, in 2019 it reached 19 universities, increased to 20 universities in 2020, then 21 universities in 2021, and this number increased to 23 universities in 2022 This reflects the steady growth of the number of Egyptian universities that have appeared in the Times World Ranking
The British Times Higher Education Institutions (THE) ranking is based on evaluating the best international universities on 5 main areas: teaching (learning environment) 30%, research (volume or rate of research productivity, research income, reputation) 30%, and citations (research impact) 30% International standing (international students, international professors, international cooperation) 7.5%, and industry application (knowledge transfer) 2.5%, through 13 performance indicators related to teaching, scientific research, knowledge transfer and international questionnaires, which provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons between universities.
There are also major criteria for universities to enter the rankings, including that the university publishes more than 1,000 research over the previous five years, and more than 150 research papers in one year, and the university must submit workable research numbers for at least one subject, and provide the total numbers for the year The classification, and the university must teach students at the undergraduate level, so only postgraduate institutions are not included in the classification, and universities are also excluded from entering this classification if 80% or more of their research output is in the subject area of ​​one of the eleven disciplines known to the classification.
