Prof. Dr. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the National Liver Institute, attended today the discussion of the doctoral thesis in the field of interventional and diagnostic radiology entitled "Thermal ablation to treat benign thyroid nodules in patients with liver cirrhosis."
It is worth noting that this thesis discusses and presents effective and safe alternatives for benign thyroid tumors in patients with liver cirrhosis who are not suitable for surgical operations.
This thesis was conducted by Dr. Heba Abdel Moneim El-Balshy
Under the supervision of:
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shawky El-Waraky, Professor of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Medical Imaging and former Head of the Radiology Department at the Institute
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mohamed Hosseini, Professor and Head of the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Medical Imaging Department at the Institute
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Zakaria Noah, Assistant Professor of General Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology - Faculty of Medicine - Menoufia University
Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Magdy, Lecturer of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Medical Imaging at the Institute.
The thesis was discussed at the Institute under the supervision of the discussion committee consisting of:

Prof. Dr. Talal Ahmed Youssef, Professor of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology - Faculty of Medicine - Mansoura University (External examiner)
Prof. Dr. Emad El-Sayed El-Shorbagy, Full-time Professor of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the Institute.
The message recommended that thermal ablation of thyroid nodules is an effective method that is equivalent to the results of surgical operations without the known surgical problems such as pain and deformities that may be caused by surgical operations, and it is also a safe method for patients with liver cirrhosis.
Thus, the National Liver Institute - Menoufia University is knocking on new doors in the fields of interventional radiology for diseases other than liver diseases.
