The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, in cooperation with the Infection Control Diploma at the Faculty of Medicine, Menoufia University, organized a scientific day in the framework of celebrating World AIDS Day, under the auspices of Dr. Adel Mubarak, President of the University, and in the presence of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Dean of the College, Dr. Rabab Mubarak, Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sawy, Vice Dean for Education Affairs, Dr. Wafaa Zahran, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the University and Supervisor of the Infection Control Diploma, Dr. Farid Wajdi, Vice Dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences, Dr. Salwa Fouad, Coordinator of Expatriate Management at the University, and Umm Muhammad Shiha, Director of the College, headed by Dr. Amal Makled, Head of the Department, in the presence of faculty members in the department and college, students from the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, the infection control team in the college and the Directorate of Health

Dr. Sobhi Sharaf welcomed the guests of the scientific day from the directorates of health, faculty members and students, and praised the students’ research and exhibits during the exhibition that opened on the sidelines of the scientific day. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sebaei, Dean of the College

Dr. Sobhi Sharaf stressed that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, and stressed the importance of taking into account the psychological aspect in the treatment of the patient because the strength of the immune system depends on the psychological aspect, stressing the need for medical service providers to master the ethics of care

He explained the importance of seminars and instructions in raising people's awareness because awareness is the basis of disease prevention

Dr. Abd al-Rahman al-Sibai also welcomed the attendees, and praised the department’s exhibition and the models and posters made by the students under the supervision of the department’s professors, pointing to the importance of interactive education and the students’ participation in scientific research, infection control, limiting the spread of diseases, and their acquisition of experiences from their professors.

Dr. Amal Makled indicated that the scientific day dealt with the definition of AIDS, methods of infection control, how to diagnose in its different stages, developments in methods of prevention and treatment, and models and posters about AIDS explaining the nature of the virus and how it invades the immune system.

Dr. Wafaa Zahran stressed the importance of integration and cooperation between the various medical departments to combat infections and diseases, and the need to keep pace with global developments in treatment and diagnosis, and to take work seriously.

Dr. Abdullah Attia, the AIDS control official at the Menoufia Health Directorate, reviewed how to protect medical service providers from infection and how to deal with the patient, and pointed out that there is a guiding body in the governorate to help the AIDS patient and the availability of free treatment, and that there are many initiatives that have been activated in the health directorates in the governorates to discover cases of infection To reduce the spread of infection, conduct a medical examination and provide treatment in complete confidentiality

Dr. Subhi Sharaf and Dr. Abd al-Rahman al-Sibai inaugurated the exhibition organized by the department on the sidelines of the scientific day for students and graduate students, which includes many models and posters about everything related to AIDS and the development of diagnosis and treatment.
