Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Menoufia University hosted the national initiative for smart green projects under the title "Sustainable Solutions for a Better Future" under the supervision of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in the presence of Dr. Nancy Asaad Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Sahar Abdel Sattar A. Imam, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Sadat University and Rapporteur of the National Council for Women in Menoufia, Eng. Official of the Executive Committee of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects at the Ministry of Communications, and Dr. Ahmed Abu Bakr, Director of the Environmental Affairs Department in Menoufia Governorate. And a large number of university faculty members, students, and students of the Students for Egypt family. The symposium was also presented by Dr. Doaa Al-Shaer.

The initiative is being implemented under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and aims to achieve sustainable development within the framework of implementing Egypt's Vision 2030 by preserving the environment to improve the quality of life, taking into account the rights of future generations, and implementing the National Climate Change Strategy 2050.

Dr. Sobhi Sharaf welcomed the guests of the symposium and conveyed to them the greetings of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, and stressed that the university always takes into account the environmental dimension when implementing development projects, explaining that students are a key partner in implementing this initiative and that Menoufia University has created several files within the initiative of an environmentally friendly university, and evidence is being prepared. indicative of that.


Sharaf stressed that the university seeks to support sustainability and prepare qualified competencies to face environmental, social and economic challenges, fulfill the requirements of societal parties, and develop sustainable management.


The symposium dealt with introducing the second round of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, which is being implemented in the governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt as a pioneering initiative in the field of sustainable and smart development and dealing with the environmental dimension and the effects of climate change.


The lecturers at the symposium stressed the importance of seriously dealing with the environmental dimension and climate change within the framework of achieving sustainable development goals, empowering all governorates of Egypt and reaching out to various groups, spreading community awareness about the challenges of climate change, empowering women in facing the challenges of climate change and the environment, and providing Egyptian solutions. For climate challenges that help adapt and mitigate the effects of climate, which were discussed by the axes of the COP27 conference.


The symposium also stressed the importance of spreading knowledge about the national initiative for smart green projects through holding seminars, maximizing the use of information and communication technology within the framework of the state’s plan for digital transformation, reaching various social and geographical groups, and spreading awareness about the challenges of climate change and the capabilities of modern technologies.


The symposium also dealt with an explanation of how to participate in the second round of the national initiative for smart green projects launched by the Egyptian government in the governorates of the Republic to maximize the utilization of resources, preserve the environment and use information technology to support the state's plan for digital transformation and empower Egyptian women in the field of facing the challenges of climate change.


The seminars dealt with introducing the groups targeted by the initiative, the type of projects and their evaluation criteria, training on entering the application platform, and how to enter data through the link http://www.sgg.eg.


Menoufia University has reviewed models of environmental projects implemented by the university within the framework of the initiative's objectives.
