Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced that the university hospital emergency department received 51 patients yesterday suffering from symptoms of food poisoning after eating meals in a restaurant, all of them from the center and city of Menouf in Menoufia Governorate, indicating that the state of maximum preparedness in the university hospitals was immediately raised and the necessary medical care was provided. And monitor their health condition around the clock.
El-Kased explained that 22 cases were received yesterday with symptoms of food poisoning. The hospitals received the cases successively until the total number reached 51 infected people who were transferred to the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department to receive treatment. This is in addition to the normal cases of emergency visits at university hospitals. The necessary first aid was given to them and they received treatment immediately.
The university president thanked all the medical staff for their efforts in following up on cases of food poisoning, in addition to following up on all cases of emergency patients at university hospitals.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Al-Numani, Dean of the College and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, indicated that in implementation of the directives of the University President, all cases in university hospitals were followed up and their families were reassured. Dr. Muhammad Al-Numani added that the symptoms of food poisoning in cases attending university hospitals were diarrhea, vomiting, and a high fever. Fever, intestinal cramps, and abdominal pain. The necessary medical care was provided to all patients, and all cases were in good condition. 36 of them were discharged, and 15 patients are still under observation and treatment.
