Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University and responsible for managing the work of Menoufia National University, issued a decision to form the Human Rights Unit at Menoufia National University, headed by and with the membership of Dr. Nancy Asaad, Academic Supervisor of Menoufia National University, Dr. Ibrahim Hashem, Dean of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Sector, and Dr. Ashraf Balbaa, Dean of the Medicine and Biosciences Sector at Menoufia National University. Dr. Atef El-Feki, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Menoufia University, is coordinator and director of the unit.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased explained that the establishment of the unit comes within the framework of activating the provisions of the National Human Rights Strategy announced by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to consolidate human rights in all state institutions, and the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education to establish a human rights unit in universities, follow up on the application of human rights standards, spread legal culture, and consolidate Concepts and principles of human rights, and concepts of democracy among university students. Therefore, the human rights course is taught in all colleges in order to educate students and enhance and develop the student’s legal awareness by guiding him to his rights guaranteed by the constitution and law, in addition to introducing him to his duties towards the university and society, in addition to organizing many events such as educational seminars. Training courses and enhancing areas of cooperation with civil society associations and institutions working in the field of human rights.
In this regard, Dr. Ahmed El-Kased and Dr. Nancy Asaad met with the journalist Ahmed Mohsen, the media official for the Human Rights Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Dr. Mansour Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Law, to outline the unit’s tasks at Menoufia National University, and ways to cooperate with the Ministry’s Human Rights Unit, which records The achievements of universities, documenting them throughout the academic year, monitoring positives, receiving complaints, and expanding the base of awareness within the academic community.
