Menoufia University students on a visit to Abu Qir sea port

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, the university organized a visit for a delegation of student leaders to Abu Qir sea port. The delegation included 26 male and female students, under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Jamil Shaheen, Director General of the General Administration for Youth Welfare, and Colonel Staff Colonel Hani Mosaddeq, Director of the Military Education Department.


Dr. Ahmed El-Kased Ali stressed that this visit comes within the framework of the university’s keenness to develop the spirit of belonging and loyalty among university students to their homeland, praising the students’ keenness to participate in the visits organized by the university in cooperation with the relevant authorities to learn about their homeland’s achievements and its honorable history, so that they can be supportive of their homeland and participate in the process of construction and development. He stressed that the university will continue to implement plans for activities and visits throughout the academic year.


The visit began with boarding the Mistral helicopter carrier “Anwar Sadat.” The delegation was received by Commodore Wissam Muhammad Azab, Commander of Abu Qir Port, and Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Jaber Abdel Radi, Commander of the Mistral.


The delegation conveyed the greetings of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, and all university employees, to the commanders of the naval forces, wishing them continued success in protecting the nation and the safety of its lands and coasts.


During the visit, Brigadier General Wissam Muhammad Azab gave a detailed explanation about Abu Qir Port and the extent of the development it has witnessed recently and the development, construction and expansion processes that made Abu Qir Port ranked second among the ports of the Mediterranean Basin and one of the leading smart ports in the world.


A video recording was also shown explaining the stages of development, its strategic importance, and the benefits that will accrue to the country economically and security-wise.


Staff Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Jaber Abdel Radi, Commander of the Mistral, spoke about the qualitative leap it added to the naval forces and the contributions it made to relief for many countries, such as Turkey, Syria, and Libya. He accompanied the delegation on an inspection tour of the sides of the Mistral, with a full explanation of its services and capabilities.


The students also toured the port and saw the eastern pier of the port and the dredging and port disinfection operations to reach the required depth of the marine basin. Memorial photos were taken for the students with the leaders of the naval forces and engineers at the port.


The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Rania Hamed at the College of Early Childhood Education, Osama Dhaif, Director of the Leadership Development Department, and Asmaa Muhammad Al-Hadi, Supervisor of Female Students.
