Signing a cooperation protocol between the Supreme Council of University Hospitals and the Banque Misr Foundation and supporting the Liver Institute Hospital

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, witnessed the signing of a joint cooperation protocol between the Supreme Council of University Hospitals and the Banque Misr Foundation, which was signed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, and Professor Mohamed El-Atreby, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Egyptian Banks, a cooperation protocol, in the presence of a distinguished group of leaders from the Ministry and the Bank, Dr. Omar Sharif, Secretary of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, Dr. Ahmed Anani, Advisor to the Minister for Health Policies, Dr. Fatima El-Gouli, Head of the Corporate Communications Sector at Banque Misr, and the Presidents of the Universities of Menoufia, Mansoura, Zagazig, and Benha, and the Deans of Faculties of Medicine and Executive Directors of University Hospitals, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education in the New Administrative Capital.

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased explained that the cooperation protocol aims to support Banque Misr for five university hospitals, which are (Menoufia University Hospitals, Benha University Hospital, Zagazig University Hospital, Mansoura University Hospital, and Assiut University Hospitals); To provide the needs of the five university hospitals for medical equipment, which contributes to developing and raising the efficiency of the level of medical and therapeutic services provided by them, noting that Banque Misr supports five university hospitals with about 81.1 million pounds, and the amount allocated to the National Liver Institute Hospital is 26 million pounds to develop the infrastructure of the university hospital, increase the capacity, and provide the hospital with all medical equipment and supplies; to keep pace with the latest international medical standards. The university president pointed out that the protocol signing ceremony witnessed a speech by the Minister of Higher Education in which he stressed the role of university hospitals and the importance of implementing the principle of effective participation and integration within the principles of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research; which benefits Egyptian society as a whole, and directing support to these hospitals comes within the framework of activating the "Alliance and Development" initiative; with the aim of raising the efficiency of the health service provided to the citizens of these governorates, and the centers, villages, and hamlets affiliated with them, within the framework of the political leadership's directives to raise the efficiency of regional university hospitals, and include them in the comprehensive health insurance system; as they are important outlets for providing health care, and providing medical and therapeutic services to a wide segment of patients. The Council also appreciated the pioneering role of the National Bank of Egypt in supporting the education and health sectors, and what the partnership with the prestigious Bank of Egypt Foundation achieves in implementing the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education in linking the current and future needs of the various regions in order to develop the infrastructure and medical equipment in university hospitals in those regions to meet the needs of citizens. The President of the University stressed his great interest in developing Menoufia University Hospitals, so after the signing ceremony of the protocol, he met with Dr. Omar Sharif, Secretary of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, and Dr. Mohamed Sabry, Executive Director of University Hospitals. During the meeting, he reviewed the executive position of the university hospitals and the proposed development plan, the steps to establish the Oncology Institute at Menoufia University as an educational, research and therapeutic institute, and the medical services that the institute will provide in oncology diseases, and ways to increase the capacity that the institute seeks to achieve. The university president praised the important role of the National Liver Institute Hospital, this distinguished institute at the level of the Arab world, and its important role in the field of liver transplantation and treatment of liver diseases, and what the institute includes of departments such as hepatology, the department of liver and biliary tract surgery, the department of pediatric liver diseases, and the department of anesthesia and intensive care, pointing out that the institute is witnessing a remarkable development to enhance the important role of all departments to provide medical services to liver patients who visit the institute from all over Egypt in the field of various liver diseases.
