Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, the university's digital library organized a training workshop on the services and information sources of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank as part of the annual training session for researchers from faculty members and the auxiliary staff, in cooperation with the digital library of the Supreme Council of Universities, in the presence of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Taha Al-Farmawi, representative of the Supreme Council of Universities, Ahmed Atef, representative of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and a number of representatives of publishing houses participating in the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, confirmed that Menoufia University is one of the first universities to register in the Knowledge Bank and that the annual training workshop for the Knowledge Bank at the university and the Supreme Council of Universities came to activate and confirm the mechanism for maximum benefit from the services of the Knowledge Bank in scientific research and to overcome all methodological difficulties in scientific research and achieve maximum credibility of information for researchers from faculty members and the auxiliary staff in various departments within the scientific and theoretical colleges of the university.
The President of the University also confirmed that this workshop comes within the presidential initiative to develop scientific research and the Egypt 2030 plan, which means increasing awareness of the importance of activating the Egyptian Knowledge Bank within universities and expanding the scope of benefit for all categories provided by the Knowledge Bank at the Supreme Council of Universities for community groups, which includes the researchers’ portal, the readers’ portal, the children’s portal, and the students’ and teachers’ portal.
The university president also urged researchers from faculty members, assistant staff, graduate students and undergraduate students to register quickly in the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and learn about the services and resources provided by the bank in all applied and research sciences and to learn about the most important publishing houses and global databases in Arab and foreign research applications, noting that the Knowledge Bank is one of the most important scientific platforms for accessing modern research and discoveries with ease and using the latest research technologies that save time, effort and cost, as the bank represents a valuable opportunity to enhance innovation and scientific and knowledge exchange between researchers at the local and international levels, which is what the Egyptian Knowledge Bank at the university and the Supreme Council of Universities continuously supports to serve researchers and advance scientific research.
Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, pointed out that the training workshop works to activate and push researchers to their personal accounts in the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and create confidence in researchers and graduate students to conduct research using modern technological means and search engines that contribute to delivering information to researchers, graduate students and university students while preserving property and intellectual rights.
Dr. Sayed Al-Asraj, Director General of Libraries and Director of the Digital Library Unit at the University, explained that the workshop included a detailed explanation for researchers of publishing houses and international and foreign databases contracted with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and a review of the various services provided by the bank to researchers, registration steps, and search mechanisms in all scientific sources that work to enrich scientific research, speed up completion, and credibility of research information.
The training workshop was attended by heads of departments in colleges, faculty members, assistant staff, researchers at the university, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
