Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, made an inspection tour of the Oncology Institute, accompanied by Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Nasser Abdel-Bari, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Ekramy Gamal, Secretary-General of the University. They were received by Dr. Hossam El-Fel, Dean of the Oncology Institute, to follow up on the preparations that have been made and the regularity of work at the institute.
The university president stressed that the Oncology Institute at Menoufia University will represent a major breakthrough in the treatment of tumors and an important step towards improving specialized healthcare and developing scientific research in the field of oncology. The institute is also an important addition to the health and academic sector in Egypt, especially since the institute includes 6 departments that work in integration to serve and treat cancer patients and increase the capacity to provide treatment services to the largest number of patients. The institute is also the first stage of establishing the medical city, an important project that the university seeks to implement to develop the medical sector and university hospitals in implementation of the directions of the Egyptian state and political leadership towards expanding the establishment of specialized medical centers and developing university hospitals, and Egypt's vision 2030 to achieve sustainable development goals, and qualifying medical facilities to enter the comprehensive health insurance system in the Arab Republic of Egypt, which aims for comprehensive health coverage for all citizens according to the highest quality standards. El-Kased added that the institute will also provide an educational role on prevention and early detection of tumors, and that the Oncology Institute is an academic institute that provides educational research services. The Oncology Institute will grant various academic degrees, including Master's, PhD, and Diploma, in oncology specialties, by providing education based on quality standards and following international educational strategies, which makes the certificates granted by the institute have weight not only locally but also internationally.
The university president also inspected the Oncology Hospital at the university hospitals, which serves patients in the governorate and neighboring governorates, and provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to more than 40,000 patients annually. He also inspected the high-precision local radiotherapy device (Brachytherapy), which is the only one of its kind in the Delta, and the fifth device in the republic. He also followed up on the patients' cases and made sure that all the necessary needs were provided for them. The university president inspected the oncology patients' lounge, which was recently equipped to provide comfort to patients during the waiting period. He also inspected the land allocated for the construction of the medical city, the new Oncology Institute building, and the buildings that will be attached to it.
The university president stressed the completion of all necessary equipment at the institute and the provision of the necessary requirements to start work at the institute and prepare to receive postgraduate students.
