Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities, Accountant Mohamed Moussa, Deputy Governor of Menoufia, and Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr, former Minister of Local Development and member of the University Council, witnessed the activities of the annual conference of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector "Social Responsibility of Universities in Light of the National Strategy for Higher Education (Future Horizons and Visions)" under the supervision of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in the presence of Vice Presidents of Universities for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs at the universities of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased welcomed the conference attendees and members of the Supreme Council of Universities, expressing his happiness to attend the third conference of the Community Service Sector at the university, praising the role of universities in developing and serving society and the pioneering role of universities in developing society and advancing the cities in which they were established.

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased added that universities are educational research institutions, in addition to bearing a great social responsibility. Its role goes beyond merely preparing graduates for the labor market to reach an effective contribution to the comprehensive and sustainable development of society, stressing the importance of the role of universities in social responsibility in several aspects, including applied scientific research, and the need for universities to direct their research efforts towards solving urgent societal problems, and developing innovative solutions that contribute to improving the lives of citizens, in addition to continuing education and training and providing various educational and training programs targeting different segments of society, and people with disabilities, with the aim of raising their competencies and enhancing their opportunities in the labor market.

El-Kased explained that the role of Menoufia University in serving the local community also includes providing advisory, medical and engineering services to the local community, and organizing awareness campaigns in various health, social and environmental fields, in addition to building strong partnerships with governmental and private institutions and non-governmental organizations, to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences and knowledge and participate in building the capacities of the local community by organizing workshops and training courses in various fields; Supporting small and medium enterprises and providing financial and technical support to small and medium enterprises, with the aim of creating job opportunities and stimulating economic growth, adopting environmentally friendly practices at the university and encouraging students and researchers to conduct studies and research in the field of environmental protection, in addition to active participation in presidential initiatives. Dr. Mustafa Refaat stressed that the social responsibility of Egyptian universities highlights the most important objectives of the National Strategy for Higher Education and activating presidential initiatives, as the "New Beginning for Building the Human" initiative came from the importance of investing in human capital and developing human capabilities to enhance the Arab identity through integrated programs implemented in cooperation with all state agencies, stressing that the Ministry of Higher Education's participation in activating this initiative includes various activities in various fields, including medical, veterinary, advisory and agricultural convoys, in addition to training courses and awareness seminars; as the initiative seeks to build an aware and qualified generation to achieve the goals of sustainable development according to Egypt's Vision 2030, while emphasizing that human rights go beyond legislation to include building a supportive environment for individual development, enhancing entrepreneurship and providing job opportunities; Emphasizing that universities play a pivotal role in achieving the integration of the dimensions of sustainable economic, social and environmental development, pointing out that higher education institutions bear a great responsibility in preparing a generation capable of facing these challenges, as universities are incubators for ideas and innovations that qualify them to achieve a sustainable future. Within the framework of the national strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry attaches great importance to achieving the goals of sustainable development with a focus on climate change, which is evident in the interest in infrastructure and the green transformation.

Accountant Mohamed Mousa pointed out that the university is the strong development arm of the state, as it bears a great responsibility in raising cadres capable of preparing for a better future in various health, educational, economic and cultural fields, and in its awareness-raising role in advancing society, changing negative ideas and developing thought in line with global progress and development.

For his part, Dr. Sobhi Sharaf explained that the conference discussed many topics, including university governance and sustainability of social responsibility, university administration and challenges of social responsibility, student unions and councils and building social responsibility, in addition to methods and ways of teaching responsibility, adding that the conference included holding a roundtable on social responsibility and a number of scientific sessions on characteristics, standards and applied models.

During the conference, university students reviewed wonderful and distinguished models of social responsibility, as they carried out initiatives, including developing archaeological awareness and strengthening national identity, the literacy initiative, the "New Tourism... for People with Special Abilities" initiative, and health initiatives to provide free medicine and support cancer patients.

At the end of the conference, Dr. Ahmed El-Kased presented the conference shield to Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Major General Ibrahim Abuleimon, Governor of Menoufia, and Accountant Mohamed Moussa, Deputy Governor. The conference chairman also presented the conference shield to Dr. Ahmed Al-Qassed, President of the University, Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Dr. Nasser Abdel Bary, Engineer Mustafa Madkour, Engineer Mohamed Hegab, Dr. Rania Azmy, Conference Chairman, and the conference rapporteurs Dr. Magdy Matar and Dr. Heba Al-Ghatami. The conference segments were also presented by Dr. Duaa Al-Shaer.
