Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced the progress of Menoufia University in the Green Metric ranking, which is a global ranking that aims to evaluate the performance of universities and educational institutions in the fields of environmental sustainability and is based on multiple criteria that measure the extent of universities' commitment to achieving sustainability goals and protecting the environment.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased explained that Menoufia University ranked 785th in the world out of 1477 international universities that appeared in the classification, achieving an advance of 95 places from the previous year, which is a great achievement achieved in one year, stressing that this progress is due to the great efforts made to achieve the standards of this classification and the university's full commitment to contributing to the goals of sustainable development, as the university launched many initiatives such as expanding the area of green gardens, planted areas, and the use of recyclable materials, in addition to spreading awareness among students and faculty members about the importance of sustainability. The university also seeks to enhance its cooperation with environmental organizations and international educational institutions, with the aim of exchanging experiences and developing joint sustainability projects that contribute to raising the university's classification in these fields. The university also encourages advanced research in the fields of environment and sustainable development, which enhances its position in the classifications related to sustainability and reflects its commitment to providing innovative solutions to contemporary environmental problems. El-Kased stressed that the university is making good progress in the global classifications related to sustainability, which reflects its continuous efforts to apply the principles of sustainable development within the university campus. And adopting effective environmental practices, such as reducing carbon emissions, rationalizing energy and water consumption, in addition to research and innovation projects that focus on sustainable solutions in various academic fields, this distinction enhances the university's position at the international level and reflects its commitment to providing a sustainable educational and research environment, and the university's commitment to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on the importance of advancing Egyptian universities in global rankings, as part of the state's strategy to develop higher education and enhance Egypt's position internationally, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030, which focuses on improving the quality of education and scientific research. Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, added that the sector seeks to achieve remarkable progress in global sustainability rankings through several strategic efforts and sustainable operations that contribute to enhancing the university's position among global universities, which include the use of renewable energy sources, the application of renewable energy systems such as solar energy in some facilities, energy consumption reduction practices, water consumption reduction strategies, waste reduction and the development of recycling methods and waste management programs in a sustainable manner, in addition to supporting educational and research programs related to sustainability, encouraging students to engage in environmental issues, enhancing environmental awareness and motivating colleges to improve their environmental performance comprehensively.
