Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, held the monthly meeting of the Central Library and University Libraries Committees, with the participation of the committee members online via electronic meeting platforms.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Kased congratulated the committee members and university staff on the occasion of the upcoming celebration of the 48th annual university anniversary, wishing the university more excellence and prosperity in all fields.
The President of the University explained that during the meeting, the activities and events carried out by the libraries of the university's faculties and institutes during the month of November were reviewed, and the decisions that were implemented were followed up and the agenda of the two sessions were discussed.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased announced that the evaluations of the results of the Best Library Competition in the university's faculties resulted in the Faculty of Engineering in Shebin El-Kom obtaining first place, the Faculty of Nursing obtaining first place, while the Faculty of Science obtained second place, Home Economics obtained second place, Education obtained third place, and Electronic Engineering obtained third place.
On the other hand, the results of the evaluation of the libraries of modern colleges came in early childhood in first place, pharmacy in second place, and artificial intelligence in third place.
El-Kased pointed out that the topics related to the work of the General Administration of University Libraries, the Central Library, the Digital Library, the Audio-Visual Library, and what has been accomplished in terms of library inventory work and the new addition of books, periodicals, and encyclopedias that have been purchased or donated to some college libraries were discussed, in addition to following up on the necessary procedures for purchasing books and scientific references for college libraries from the general budget for the fiscal year 2024/2025.
Some controls and guiding standards for accepting information containers donated to university libraries were also discussed, in addition to following up on the services provided by the digital library to researchers from faculty members, assistant staff, and graduate students.
The university president also pointed out that the university is implementing the Modern Trends in Libraries program for library specialists in colleges and institutes of the university, in addition to holding many workshops for students in colleges to introduce the services provided by libraries.
