Today, Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, witnessed the organization of the introductory workshop for ISF programs and the HULT PRIZE program, under the slogan "Join us with your innovation", in the presence of Dr. Nasser Abdel-Bari, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hazem Saleh, former Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Ghada Ali Hassan, Executive Coordinator of International Relations and Coordinator of the Innovators and Geniuses Care Fund at the University.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased welcomed the students, and stressed that the state supports geniuses and innovators and encourages the registration of patents in all fields, pointing out that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi always supports youth and seeks to empower them and is keen on their participation in all projects that he witnesses the opening of, as they are the builders of the future.
The university president added that the university places students at the forefront of its concerns, stressing the university's keenness to support outstanding and distinguished students scientifically and athletically through a number of units and centers within the university in addition to the various activities carried out by the university's student care, explaining that the university has a center to support innovators and geniuses, which is concerned with developing all talents among students.
"El-Kased" pointed out that the university seeks to establish business incubators and specialized companies to support innovative and genius students, and called on students to benefit from the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and to support their new colleagues and introduce them to ways to participate in scientific competitions.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased urged students to attend workshops that discuss the mechanism for participating in the international "Hult Prize" competition for university students, which is the largest platform in the world for sponsoring urgent innovative development projects in societies. Dr. Nasser Abdel Bari also stressed the necessity of teamwork, pointing out the university's keenness to support talented, geniuses and innovators, and work to adopt and develop their research ideas, and implement awareness and educational seminars for them. The Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs called on university students to participate in local and international platforms for innovative projects and entrepreneurship, the most important of which is currently the "Hult Prize" competition. Dr. Hazem, the former Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, also pointed out that participating in the Innovators and Geniuses Care Fund competitions is an ideal opportunity to sponsor the ideas of talented and distinguished students in entrepreneurship, stressing that the university always takes care of students with innovative skills and helps them document their projects and intellectual ideas through the university's Patent Registration Office and helps students document projects and protect their intellectual property rights, pointing out that such projects presented by students are innovative solutions and applications to eliminate the problems of industry, agriculture and the vast medical field, rationalize energy and fuel consumption and solve the worsening environmental problems. Dr. Ghada Hassan, Coordinator of the Innovators and Geniuses Care Fund at the University, explained the nature of the "Hult Prize" competition, which is one of the competitions for innovative investment projects. It is also a competition held annually for university students from around the world, where participating teams compete to implement pioneering projects and businesses that aim to solve a problem in a specific sector such as water, energy, education, agriculture, and other pressing problems that require innovative projects capable of finding applicable solutions. She also stressed that this competition works to bring about societal change through education and entrepreneurship, in addition to the incentive element that the competition provides to the winning teams for entrepreneurship projects and valuable financial prizes for the winning team and its support to represent Egypt globally. Dr. Moamen Ragab Ghazir, Program Director at the Innovators and Geniuses Care Fund affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, gave a comprehensive presentation via Zoom about the establishment of the fund, its available programs, and how to apply on the website. He pointed out the courses that must be obtained in the field of entrepreneurship and received inquiries from attendees about the various ISF programs. Dr. Saad Atef, Director of the Patent Office at the university, presented how to protect ideas, innovations, and inventions and presented ways to protect ideas from theft before and after the competitions. Student Salma Al-Moez also presented her experience in participating in the Startup Olympiad competition held at the university and reaching the end of the competition and the Genz program, one of the fund’s programs is the global “Hult Prize” competition, which aims to encourage students to develop solutions to pressing social problems through social entrepreneurship. During it, students from all over the world compete for a prize of one million dollars, which will be presented in the finals scheduled to be held this year in London. Zahraa Issa, the Hult Prize Coordinator at Menoufia University, explained the conditions for applying and participating in the competition, in addition to highlighting this year’s challenge and the competition’s schedule throughout the year.
Mohamed El-Fateh, the Hult Prize Coordinator in Egypt, explained how to apply for the competition and the role played by volunteers in Hult Prize to help students present their ideas and creativity. He also reviewed one of the successful models from last year, which qualified for the finals of the international competition in London and represented Egypt.
The meeting was organized by Dr. Mohamed Lotfy, the Executive Coordinator for Expatriates at the University, and Dr. Salah Diab, Deputy Executive Director of the ISF Center at the University, in addition to members of the International Relations Office and the Expatriates Office, Dr. Yasmine Abdel Aziz, Rasha Saeed, and Ahmed Saad.
