President of Menoufia University witnesses the activities of the Investment in Scientific Research Conference at Sohag University and stresses the importance of directing research towards issues of national priority, and enhancing the culture of scientific research among students
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, witnessed the activities of the "Investment in Scientific Research" conference, which was held at Sohag University in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, and under the supervision of Dr. Hassan Al-Naamani, President of Sohag University, and in the presence of Dr. Hossam Othman, Deputy Minister for Innovation and Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, presidents of public universities and secretaries of councils, and a group of leaders of the ministry.
The envoy pointed out that Dr. Ayman Ashour opened the conference activities and delivered a speech in which he stressed that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has taken serious steps to encourage interest in applicable scientific research outcomes, as an important step towards achieving scientific and research integration and cooperation. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is also working to create a stimulating environment for investment in higher education and provide the necessary infrastructure and information, in addition to setting policies and procedures that support this investment, and providing appropriate incentives to investors, in addition to supporting the diversity of university education institutions that are witnessing unprecedented diversity during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, as the higher education system is diversified to include (government universities, private universities, private universities, technological universities, and branches of foreign universities), in addition to institutes and universities with international and framework agreements and special laws. Dr. Ahmed El-Kased stressed that investing in scientific research is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and the advancement of societies, and is a priority for the political leadership and Egypt's Vision 2030. It contributes to finding solutions to economic, social and environmental challenges, and enhances the competitiveness of countries on the global stage. In universities, scientific research plays a major role in improving the quality of education and developing the research and innovation capabilities of students and faculty members. Al-Qassed added that scientific research provides the appropriate environment for developing new ideas and transforming them into products or technologies that contribute to improving life. Scientific research is also a major driver of industries and technology, which enhances productivity and supports the economy. Scientific research can also provide innovative solutions to health, education, energy and environmental issues. Dr. Ahmed Al-Qassed mentioned some of the efforts of Menoufia University in achieving investment in scientific research, especially since Menoufia University is one of the leading Egyptian universities that makes great efforts to promote scientific research. These efforts include: working to provide funding for research projects that serve national priorities such as renewable energy, food security, and health, and enhancing cooperation with international universities and research centers to exchange expertise and implement joint research projects, in addition to working to establish and develop modern research centers and laboratories equipped with the latest technologies, establishing business incubators and innovation centers to support research ideas and transform them into applicable projects, holding workshops and scholarships to develop researchers' skills in various research fields, and directing scientific research towards solving local problems and promoting community development. The university president stressed that despite the efforts made, there is still a need to increase funding, direct research towards issues of national priority, and promote the culture of scientific research among students.
