Regarding the university strategy, quality and institutional accreditation:
A higher committee was formed to update the Menoufia University 2025 strategy, with the aim of adding new projects and updating the university’s vision in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030. A new vision for the university’s future plan was also developed, in addition to the university’s expansion plan in Sadat City, which is one of the most important future projects. These expansions aim to establish new branches of the university that include specializations that keep pace with academic developments and global trends towards digital education, emerging specializations and the requirements of the new republic. Serious steps were also taken to establish start-up companies to enhance the university’s investments, increase its economic and social impact, create good opportunities for graduates and enhance the university’s reputation as a center for creativity and innovation. Indeed, the university council approved the establishment of the Menoufia University Company for Medical Services and began taking the necessary measures in this regard to be the first of the companies that will be established in various specializations. Within the framework of the new strategy and the completion of the Medical City project, the expansions of the Oncology Institute were established as a first phase. These efforts were crowned by the issuance of Prime Ministerial Resolution No. 2862 of 2024 to add the Oncology Institute to the university’s colleges and institutes. The institute is a therapeutic, educational, and research center, and includes a hospital for oncology treatment. It is a strategic step towards improving specialized healthcare and developing scientific research in the field of oncology. The institute also contributes to increasing the capacity of the Oncology Hospital, in addition to providing a research and educational service to grant various academic degrees in oncology specialties according to international quality standards. A few days ago, a decision was issued by Dr. Saleh Al-Sheikh, Head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration, to approve the organizational structure of the Oncology Institute. The institute includes six departments that work in integration to serve and treat cancer patients, which include: the Oncology Department, the Oncology Surgery Department, the Leukemia Department, the Nuclear Medicine Department, the Medical Statistics and Scientific Research Department, and the Oncology Biology Department. The goal of establishing the institute is to increase the bed capacity with a capacity of (400) internal beds, (40) intensive care beds, (40) intermediate care beds, (6) tumor surgery operating rooms, 100 chairs to receive chemotherapy doses and 3 radiotherapy stations, in order to accommodate the largest number of patients from the governorate and neighboring governorates. All medical services that will be provided within the university’s Oncology Institute will be provided with the latest devices and modern technologies in tumor treatment. The Oncology Institute is an academic institute that provides educational research services, such as the National Liver Institute at the university. The Oncology Institute will grant various academic degrees, including Master's, PhD, and Diploma, in the specializations of: Oncology, Oncology Surgery, Blood Biology, Nuclear Medicine, Cancer Hematology, Pediatric Oncology, and Cancer Epidemiology, according to international quality standards. It follows international educational strategies, which makes the certificates granted by the institute have weight not only locally but also internationally. The institute has already begun work and selected the work team in cooperation with the Oncology Department at the Faculty of Medicine. The strategic plan also witnessed an important step towards establishing a new specialized hospital called "Surgical Centers Hospital", which will include many medical specialties. This initiative comes within the framework of the university's efforts to develop the medical system to meet the requirements of the comprehensive health insurance system in the republic. We also achieved a great accomplishment in the field of nursing and the completion of the building of the Technical Institute for Nursing in Manshiyat Sultan, which was long awaited until it was achieved and all the building works and necessary equipment were completed and studies began in it at the beginning of this academic year. Students were transferred from the old building to the new building, which was built on an area of 1,000 square meters, as a donation from Hajj Shaker Hamouda, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ahl Al-Khair Foundation in Manshiyat Sultan. The university took over the construction and equipment, as the institute consists of 7 repeated floors, and includes 3 lecture halls and 10 laboratories and training halls in various specializations. It was also supplied with the latest devices and equipment, teaching and training methods to graduate qualified and trained students to work in various nursing specializations and contribute effectively to bridging the deficit in nursing services in university hospitals and the Liver Institute. Given the importance of institutional accreditation, which is an essential element in improving the level of higher education and ensuring its quality, and enhances the university's ability to interact with the challenges of the era, and ensures that its educational programs and research are in line with international quality standards, and contributes to raising the university's reputation, attracting funding, enhancing opportunities for international cooperation, and supporting educational outcomes in line with the needs of the labor market, we are currently applying for institutional accreditation and considering this year as the year of quality at the university, as it is one of the most important university files for the year 2025, so that Menoufia University will be among the first universities to apply for institutional accreditation.
