Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, the Menoufia University Faculty of Engineering Electric Cars Team (MRT) managed to win and obtain seventh place in its first participation in the Electric Car Marathon in Qatar, which was organized by Shell International Company, where the number of competing teams reached 134 from all countries of the world. 90 teams qualified after the technical examination, and the number of participants reached more than 900 participants.
Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, expressed his happiness with the victory of the Faculty of Engineering team, congratulating the faculty members and the winning team, noting that participation in this competition comes as a confirmation of Menoufia University's commitment to supporting scientific research and innovation, and its keenness to prepare its students to face global challenges, which contributes to developing their skills and enhancing their capabilities in the fields of sustainable energy.
El-Kased added that the university team achieved great success by advancing over the Egyptian and Arab teams participating in the marathon and many international teams, after the car they participated in the competition passed the eleven technical inspection requirements to verify the availability of the participation determinants and the durability and insurance factors necessary to participate in the competition.
Prof. Mohamed Saafan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, pointed out that the team's experience gained through its local participation contributed to reaching this distinguished level in its first international participation according to the competition judges, in which the college team competed among ninety international teams that qualified to participate, gaining more experience necessary to develop the car's manufacturing materials and its electrical and mechanical components, congratulating the college staff, team members, team supervisors, Menoufia University, and Misr El Kheir Foundation for providing the necessary technical and financial support for the team's participation in this international event.
The "Shell Eco" Marathon competition is one of the most important global platforms that encourage university students to innovate and manufacture energy-saving vehicles, and brings together teams from all over the world, giving participants the opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about the latest technologies in this field.
