Under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, Menoufia University organized a free veterinary medical convoy for the Batanoun Veterinary Unit. The convoy was supervised by Prof. Sobhi Sharaf and in cooperation with the University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Fayoumi, Dean of the Faculty, the Menoufia Veterinary Medicine Directorate, the Batanoun Center Administration, the unit's veterinarians, and the Menoufia Veterinary Syndicate.
Prof. Ahmed El-Kased emphasized that the University's veterinary convoys are part of the University's role in serving the community. The University is committed to directing integrated convoys to the most needy villages and areas, organizing veterinary convoys with the aim of raising veterinary awareness among villagers and providing the best possible veterinary care for livestock through free examinations of sick cases and holding advisory meetings with citizens to raise awareness and increase production. He added that the veterinary medical convoy included distinguished medical staff from veterinarians at the university and the veterinary unit, in addition to providing the opportunity to train university students on clinical field cases. He emphasized that veterinary medical convoys are a real opportunity for students to directly connect with community stakeholders, gaining real-life experience that enhances their ability to interact with society after graduation and the beginning of their professional life.
Prof. Sobhi Sharaf indicated that the convoy examined (1,500) bird cases, including (60) internal and infectious disease examinations. Ultrasound examinations were also performed on (100) animal cases, diagnosing and treating them, dispensing the necessary medications and vaccinations, and spraying the animals against external parasites that cause disease free of charge. This is intended to ease the burden on citizens, improve their standard of living, and develop livestock wealth.
Prof. Sayed Gelila, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Iman Baza, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, participated in the convoy’s activities. The convoy also included a number of professors and faculty members in clinical departments, and male and female students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Menoufia University, to provide them with field skills in fulfillment of the college’s mission in training its students to qualify them for the labor market through practical examination and treatment of various animals and poultry.
