President of Menoufia University Participates in the Second Meeting of the Committee for Developing a Vision for Medical Education and Training and Formulating a Comprehensive Strategy to Enhance Healthcare Workforce Capacity

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, participated in the second meeting of the specialized committee tasked with developing an integrated vision for advancing medical education and training across all stages of the healthcare sector. The committee was established by a decision of Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as part of the state's efforts to modernize the medical education and training system and enhance the competencies of healthcare professionals in line with scientific advancements and labor market demands.

The committee is chaired by Prof. Ashraf Hatem, Chairman of the Medical Studies Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, and includes a distinguished group of university presidents, experts, and officials from the healthcare and academic sectors. Its members include Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University; Prof. Yasser Magdy Hattata, President of Fayoum University; Prof. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation; Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Lotfy, President of the Egyptian Health Council; Prof. Mansour Hassan, Former President of Beni-Suef University; Prof. Ashraf Abdel Basset, Academic President of the University of Hertfordshire Branch in Egypt; Prof. Hossam Salah Ahmed Mourad, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University; Prof. Ali Mohamed Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University; Prof. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Institutional Development and the Ministry's Official Spokesperson; and Prof. Omar Sherif Omar, Secretary of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, who serves as the committee's rapporteur.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased stated that the committee aims to develop a comprehensive framework for reforming the medical education and training system and preparing a time-bound implementation plan to enhance the quality of education and training across various healthcare disciplines. The committee is expected to submit its final report to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research within three months of the issuance of the decision establishing the committee.

He noted that today's meeting, held at the Supreme Council of Universities, discussed several important topics and key areas related to the development of medical education and training. These included updating academic programs and curricula according to international standards, strengthening integration between academic study and practical training in university hospitals and healthcare facilities, developing continuous professional training programs, and leveraging modern technologies, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence in education and training processes. These efforts aim to prepare highly qualified healthcare professionals capable of keeping pace with the rapidly evolving healthcare sector.

The President of Menoufia University emphasized that the university's participation in the committee stems from its commitment to supporting efforts to advance medical education and improve healthcare systems, as well as contributing to the formulation of an integrated national vision for preparing highly competent healthcare professionals. These efforts align with the state's strategy to develop the healthcare sector and achieve the goals of sustainable development and Egypt Vision 2030.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased further explained that Menoufia University places great emphasis on advancing medical education through updating curricula, expanding the use of modern technologies and medical simulation, and strengthening clinical training within university hospitals. These initiatives ensure the graduation of highly qualified professionals capable of competing locally and regionally. He also noted that the university's ongoing expansion projects in the medical sector, particularly the Integrated Medical City and the development of university hospitals, provide strong support for the medical education and training system and contribute to achieving integration between education, scientific research, and healthcare services, ultimately improving citizens' health and enhancing the quality of services provided to them.
