Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced the university's progress in the Arab Universities Ranking (ARU) affiliated with the League of Arab States in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Association of Arab Universities, explaining that Menoufia University came in 21st place out of 180 Arab universities, and 7th place out of Egyptian universities.
El-Kased added that the ARU ranking aims to evaluate the performance of universities in the Arab region, stressing that this ranking is the first of its kind to be developed within the Arab world, as it was officially launched in February 2022, and the first ranking was issued in December 2023. The Arab Universities Ranking is an important tool for students, academics and decision-makers, as it provides an objective assessment of university performance, which helps in making informed decisions regarding higher education in the Arab region. The ranking also aims to motivate Arab universities to improve the quality of education and scientific research, and enhance innovation and international cooperation, which contributes to raising the level of higher education.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased stressed that the progress of Menoufia University in the ARU classification of Arab universities confirms the extent of improvement in the quality of education and scientific research at the university, and reflects a set of positive aspects that distinguish the university's performance and development in various fields, the most important of which is the university's success in providing a distinguished educational environment that meets the needs of students, efforts to develop academic programs and update curricula to keep pace with international standards, and increase the productivity and quality of scientific research, whether in terms of its number or its impact through citations. It also shows the university's interest in supporting researchers and encouraging them to innovate, and its interest in launching innovative initiatives and entrepreneurship programs that support students and society, and reflects the university's role in serving society through development initiatives and projects.
El-Kased also stressed that the university works according to the strategic plan for higher education adopted by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and his directives to raise the progress of universities on the map of Arab and international classifications, noting that the university's progress in the classification highlights its ability to face academic and research challenges through well-thought-out strategic plans, and this reflects its constant pursuit of excellence and remaining in a leading position among Arab universities.
The university president thanked Dr. Hazem Saleh, former Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Hassan Aliwa, head of the working team, and the members of the working team, and all those who contributed to achieving this important step, stressing that this progress is not just a number in the classifications, but rather the result of continuous collective work to develop all aspects of the educational and research process, which qualifies the university to compete at the regional and international levels. It is worth noting that the ARU design is based on four main indicators, from which sub-criteria branch out, namely: Education and Learning (30%): includes the quality of education and the learning environment, Scientific Research (40%): includes research productivity and quality, Creativity, Leadership and Innovation (15%): focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship, International and local cooperation and community service (15%): measures the extent of the university's engagement in society and cooperation with other institutions.
