In the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and the Ambassador of the Netherlands:

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, witnessed the activities of the dialogue session entitled “International Cooperation and its Impact on Building the Knowledge Economy,” which was held yesterday evening in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ambassador Peter Mollema, Ambassador of the Netherlands in Cairo, and Dr. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs. Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, a number of Egyptian university presidents, and Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Secretary of the Council of Private Universities.


The University President expressed his thanks and appreciation for being invited to participate in this important dialogue session, which is a good opportunity to discuss ways of international cooperation and form international partnerships with various educational institutions around the world.


The university president explained that during the dialogue session, Dr. Ayman Ashour reviewed the higher education strategy 2030, which is in line with Egypt’s vision 2030, and ways to support cooperation between universities, research centers and industrial bodies in Egypt and the Netherlands, and the importance of expanding in the areas of international cooperation. Areas of cooperation between the Elsevier Foundation in the Netherlands were also reviewed. Which is considered one of the most prominent institutions supporting scientific research in various fields, and cooperates with Egypt in several strategic projects, including the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, which contributed to supporting the efforts of university and research institutions, and played an important role in improving its regional and international standing, which increased the number of Egyptian universities listed in various classifications. The important international conference, and praise for the role of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB), which is a presidential initiative launched by the political leadership to contribute to enhancing scientific research in Egypt and improving the classification of Egyptian universities.


During the session, the number of research published since 2016 was presented, as Egypt has surpassed all African countries in its scientific production since 2020, which shows that Egyptian researchers produce a number of research that exceeds any other country in Africa, as Egypt leads Africa in terms of the impact of citations. ; This confirms the excellence of its research, as in the past five years, more than 200,000 research papers were published by Egyptian researchers, and these research achieved citations at a rate of 38% higher than the global average, and among these publications, 1,700 publications were authored in cooperation with Dutch researchers. .


The session also witnessed a welcome speech by Ambassador Peter Mollema, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Cairo, in which he stressed the depth of the cooperation relations between the Netherlands and Egypt in various fields. Scientific, educational, and research relations, and the continuous development of these relations in many sectors, stressing that the Netherlands is one of the leading countries in supporting scientific research at the international level, through many influential international entities.
