Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, participated in the periodic meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, headed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and members of the Council, at the headquarters of Aswan University.

The university president confirmed that the minister directed to raise the maximum level of readiness in university hospitals to receive the wounded and injured from the Gaza Strip, after Egypt succeeded in cooperation with regional and international partners in reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, adding that he accompanied the minister on his previous visit to the Rafah crossing and the emergency session of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, and the readiness of Menoufia University Hospitals to receive the injured from the Gaza Strip was reviewed by enhancing their medical and logistical preparations, equipping specialized medical teams, intensive care and emergency rooms, and providing the necessary medicines and medical supplies. Medical staff were also trained to deal with emergency and complex cases that may be received, and to provide coordination with the relevant authorities to facilitate the transfer of the injured from the Rafah crossing, stressing that these efforts come within the framework of the great Egyptian solidarity with the Palestinian people in facing the repercussions of the painful events in Gaza, and in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to cooperate and coordinate between the various concerned parties to provide all forms of support to the brothers in Gaza. During the meeting, the Minister thanked the faculty members, the assistant staff and the administrative staff at the universities for their full discipline in organizing the final exams for the first semester of the current academic year 2024/2025. The Minister directed the rapid completion of the control work and the announcement of the results of the first semester exams for the current academic year to students as quickly as possible; to enable them to register for courses at the beginning of the second semester in all colleges that operate on the credit hour system.

Dr. Ayman Ashour also directed the necessity of completing all maintenance work during the mid-year vacation of the current academic year, and ensuring the availability and readiness of occupational safety and security equipment in all university buildings and facilities, in order to ensure the safety of all members of the academic community, as part of the universities' preparations to start studying in the second semester.

The envoy added that the meeting also discussed reviewing activities and events during the vacation period, launching medical, veterinary and agricultural convoys, organizing educational seminars, and positively contributing to capacity building in the health, environmental, veterinary and social fields, in cooperation with the "Decent Life" initiative, in order to activate the role of universities in serving the community and developing the environment at the level of all governorates, in addition to developing plans to intensify awareness campaigns for students to combat abnormal ideas.

The Minister of Higher Education praised the efforts of various universities in implementing the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Building the Human Being", and the universities providing many diverse services in various geographical regions, as universities launched many development convoys across the republic to serve citizens, in order to activate the role of universities in serving the community and developing the environment at the level of all governorates, as the university president confirmed that Menoufia University is participating strongly in the presidential initiative and many events and activities have been organized to achieve the goals of the initiative to enable individuals to develop themselves at various levels, whether psychological, physical, or intellectual, and to provide support to individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve their personal and professional goals through directed programs and comprehensive axes.

During the meeting, the Council approved the completion of the procedures for allocating an area of ​​49,310 square meters to establish the integrated university complex in the Egyptian Universities area in the New Administrative Capital, as well as the headquarters of the Supreme Council of Universities. The Council listened to a report on the most prominent activities of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during the month of January. The meeting also witnessed listening to the visions of university presidents to activate the role of university students in supporting civil work during the coming period. It was agreed to coordinate through the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities and the Technical Secretariat of the Alliance during the coming period, to develop executive mechanisms for comprehensive cooperation programs between universities and the National Alliance for Civil Development Work during the coming period.
