Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced the return of Menoufia University to progress in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Specialization for the year 2025 after its absence from the classification last year, achieving remarkable progress in the fields of computer science, engineering, physics, medicine and life sciences at the level of Egyptian and international universities.
El-Kased explained that the university ranked 601-800 in the fields of engineering, physics, computer science, and life sciences, expressing his happiness with the university's appearance in the global ranking after an absence, so that the university returns strongly, making progress at the level of international universities, stressing that what happened is the result of continuous work and joint cooperation to place the university on the map of global rankings in a position befitting its long history, and what it includes of a distinguished elite of researchers, as it reflects its commitment to achieving the highest standards of quality in education and scientific research, and its plan to develop scientific research, and provide academic programs in line with the higher education strategy and Egypt's vision 2030. Dr. Ahmed El-Kased stressed that the university seeks in its strategic plan to implement a number of measures that enhance its academic and research performance, the most important of which are: increasing support for research projects and innovation, encouraging researchers to publish in high-impact scientific journals, enhancing research cooperation with international universities and research centers, in addition to updating curricula to comply with international standards, training academic cadres on the latest teaching methods, establishing local databases that contribute to increasing access to published research, working to develop research laboratories, and developing awareness of the importance of academic evaluation and participation in it, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to advance universities and research institutions in global rankings in all disciplines.
The university president congratulated faculty members and researchers in the field of physical sciences, life sciences, computer sciences and engineering on this achievement, wishing for further progress and achieving higher positions at the level of all disciplines.
Dr. Hatem Mohamed, Dean of Computers and Information and Supervisor of the University’s Information Center, added that the British Times classification is based on 5 criteria that include 13 indicators, namely scientific citations, the university’s research impact, the number and reputation of research, and the income generated from it, in addition to the educational environment and the results of Thomson Reuters surveys to measure the research and educational reputation of universities with the participation of 20,000 researchers and scientists. The number of doctoral degrees granted by the university is also calculated, taking into account the number of faculty members, the diversity of specializations at the university, the ratio of faculty members to students, and the ratio of graduate students to undergraduate students.
