Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, held the monthly session of the University Council in the presence of the University Vice Presidents Dr. Sobhi Sharaf for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Nasser Abdel-Bari for Education and Students, Dr. Ekramy Gamal, Secretary General of the University, and Deans of Faculties.
El-Kased began the session by congratulating President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, the Egyptian people, and the Islamic nation on the occasion of the anniversary of Isra and Mi'raj, calling on God Almighty to return this fragrant anniversary with goodness, blessings, and blessings, and congratulating on the occasion of the 73rd Police Day and thanking all employees of the Ministry of Interior for their efforts in maintaining the security and safety of the country, and on the occasion of the January 25 Revolution and praying for mercy on the martyrs of this glorious revolution, calling on God for more stability and progress for Egypt, and he also congratulated the Coptic brothers on the occasion of the celebration of Christmas.
The university president expressed his great appreciation for participating in the inspection tour of the Rafah crossing in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at the head of a high-level delegation that included the Governor of North Sinai and the presidents of the universities of Arish, Cairo, Ain Shams and Suez Canal, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities and members of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, to ensure the crossing's readiness to receive the wounded and injured from the Gaza Strip and to provide all forms of support to the brothers in Gaza after reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in addition to participating in the expanded meeting held by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research with the medical staff of the university hospitals at the headquarters of the Faculty of Medicine at Arish University. During the meeting, it was confirmed that the hospitals of Menoufia University are fully prepared to receive the injured from the Gaza Strip.
The university president praised the qualification of the university teams participating in the "Ibdaa 13" competition to the final qualifiers in 14 fields in the competition, which is the largest competition in the Arab world and is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic with the participation of students from universities, institutes and governmental and private academies in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
He thanked the Adult Education Center and all the faculties participating in the National Literacy and Adult Education Project on the occasion of their success in eradicating illiteracy for 6,042 male and female citizens during the October 2024 session. Thus, the university has succeeded in eradicating illiteracy for 96,153 citizens since 2014 in various villages and centers of Menoufia Governorate and outside the governorate.
The university president announced that the Projects Department at the Ministry of Higher Education has approved financing 5 projects for the Faculty of Pharmacy, a project for the Faculty of Medicine, and a project for the Faculty of Agriculture, appreciating the efforts of Dr. Haitham Maimoun, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, in this regard to obtain funding for these projects from the Projects Department at the Ministry of Higher Education, which aims to enhance the quality of higher education and scientific research by implementing and following up on development and strategic projects. These projects include improving infrastructure, developing curricula, supporting innovation, stimulating scientific research, and equipping laboratories.
The university president stressed that establishing a psychological counseling unit within the university is of great importance to support students' mental health and enhance a positive academic environment, as this unit plays a major role in dealing with the psychological and social challenges that students face during their educational journey. The university council approved the establishment of a psychological counseling unit at the university and began taking the necessary measures to organize the work of the unit, select specialized cadres of trained psychologists to provide counseling, and work mechanisms regarding providing individual and group sessions for psychological counseling while ensuring complete privacy for students.
During the session, the university president presented a proposal to archive paper documents and directed the provision of a secure place equipped with all the needs to archive paper documents in a systematic manner with the aim of preserving them, facilitating access to them, and ensuring their safety in the long term, and assigning the university's secretary-general to immediately begin implementing the proposal and form an implementation committee and determine responsibilities for the work team.
During the session, a direct secret ballot was held to vote on the selection of members of the Deans Selection Committee at the university. A committee was formed headed by Dr. Sobhi Sharaf and including Dr. Ekramy Gamal and Dr. Mansour Mohamed, Dean of Law. The committee conducted the voting process, counted the votes, and announced the results, which resulted in the selection of Dr. Saqr Ahmed Saqr, former President of the University, Dr. Sobhi Ghoneim, former President of the University, and Dr. Hazem Saleh, former Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research.
El-Kased referred to the cooperation protocol that was concluded between the Oncology Institute at Menoufia University and the National Oncology Institute at Cairo University, and the start of implementing the terms of the agreement and exchanging field visits between the two parties, adding that a cooperation protocol was also signed between the National Liver Institute and the Theodor Bilharz Institute with the aim of making optimal use of the training and research capabilities available to both parties.
The envoy briefed the attendees on the latest developments in the university's expansion in Sadat City on an area of 200 acres and the establishment of a number of ambitious university projects to achieve sustainable development goals, and the approval of the urban planning proposal and addressing the Ministry of Housing for approval, thanking Dr. Ayman Abdel Hamid, the engineering consultant, for his efforts in this regard.
The council approved in its session today the disbursement of a bonus of 1,500 pounds to all employees of the administrative apparatus on the occasion of the approaching holy month of Ramadan.
The university president reviewed the most important activities that took place during the month of January, and the university's vice presidents presented the topics related to each sector.
