Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, inaugurated the activities of the first international conference of the departments of the National Liver Institute at the university, which was held under the auspices of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, and in the presence of Prof. Yasser Hatata, President of Fayoum University,Prof. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the National Liver Institute, Dr. Hani Abdel Majeed, Dr. Iman Abdel Samee, Vice Deans of the Liver Institute, Dr. Hossam Soliman and Dr. Mohamed El-Husseini, Conference Secretaries, Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed Attia, Executive Director of the Liver Institute Hospital, and Dr. Islam Ayoub, Director of the Hospital, in addition to a large number of deans of the university's faculties and former deans of the institute and a large number of faculty members, liver doctors and various medical specialties.
Prof. Ahmed El-Kased welcomed the attendees and guests of the conference and expressed his happiness at attending the unified conference of scientific departments at the National Liver Institute, stressing the importance of scientific forums in exchanging experiences, education and continuous training adopted by the university.
The envoy also praised the conference program and the insistence of those in charge to make it come out in an honorable way. El-Kased appreciated the institute's efforts and hard work over the past months to appear at the conference at a scientific level befitting Menoufia University and a giant entity like the National Liver Institute, stressing that Menoufia University and Egyptian universities are able to challenge and confront various crises, and this was clearly evident in the increase in scientific activities held at the university, which would drive the wheel of development and achieve Egypt's future vision.
The university president also pointed out the importance of cooperation between scientific departments and various academic bodies in the conference, explaining that the participation of more than one body in the conference makes its sessions and recommendations have a good return in achieving the maximum benefit for attendees and transferring experiences to young doctors and researchers, noting that the whole world is moving towards integration between different specializations, hoping that the conference will come out with applicable recommendations and that the workshops held on the sidelines of the conference will achieve their goal of training and educating young doctors.
El-Kased expressed his happiness at hosting the National Liver Institute and Menoufia Universities for this distinguished group of experts in surgery and treatment of liver and digestive system diseases, representing 15 Arab and foreign countries and prestigious universities, stressing that the university is keen to host experts in all medical fields within the framework of its keenness on continuous medical training for medical cadres, exchange of experiences and following up on the latest developments in medical fields in the world. The envoy pointed out that the National Liver Institute at the university is the first specialized health facility affiliated with the university to obtain accreditation, in addition to obtaining institutional accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, congratulating all the institute's employees on this achievement, adding that university hospitals are on their way to accreditation, as part of the university's strenuous efforts by taking serious steps to obtain institutional accreditation for all its health facilities, to ensure the provision of medical training, education and medical services according to the best local and international standards.
For his part, Prof. Osama Hegazy welcomed the conference guests, noting that the institute is one of the first hospitals to start liver transplantation in Egypt since 1991 and includes many specialized clinics with a capacity of 350 beds that provide integrated medical services to patients from Egypt and Arab countries in addition to the quality of health care.
The dean of the institute added that the conference discusses through 45 scientific sessions the latest developments in the treatment and diagnosis of liver diseases and surgeries with the participation of all 12 departments at the institute. The conference also discusses 60 scientific research papers and 260 session chairmen and 220 speakers from experts and scientists in medical specialties in Egypt and the world.
At the end of the opening session, the Dean of the Institute and the President of the Conference, Prof.Ahmed El-Kased, honored the President of the University, thanking him and appreciating his continuous support for the Institute. He also honored Prof. Yasser Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and all the former deans of the Institute, thanking them for their efforts to advance the Institute.
