Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, visited Menoufia University this morning, Tuesday, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a number of medical and educational projects that aim to enhance health services, scientific research, and provide an advanced academic environment, in the presence of Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Menoufia, Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, and a group of leaders from the Ministry, Higher Education and the University.

The Minister began his visit to the university by opening the outpatient clinics of the University Hospital in Menoufia at a cost of 160 million pounds. The new outpatient clinic building includes 56 clinics distributed over 5 floors, equipped with the latest medical devices. The building also contains analysis laboratories, radiology, endoscopy, and audiology departments. This project comes within the framework of supporting presidential initiatives aimed at improving health care for citizens.

The Minister also opened the outpatient clinics of the Faculty of Dentistry at a cost of 150 million pounds. The clinics were equipped with the latest medical equipment. The clinics include 35 dental chairs and two sterilization rooms on the ground floor, in addition to receiving patients in the clinics on the fifth and seventh floors. The clinics were also equipped with the latest cone-beam CT scan machine to diagnose oral and dental diseases and provide specialized services, such as dental implants and cosmetic surgeries.

The visit also included laying the foundation stone for the expansion of the Oncology Institute at a cost of 1.3 billion pounds, a project that represents a strategic step towards improving oncology treatment, as the institute includes 7 specialized departments: pediatric oncology and hematology, oncology surgery, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine, oncology and hematology, oncology biology, medical statistics and cancer epidemiology, and palliative medicine department. The institute's bed capacity will also be increased to 400 internal beds, 40 intensive care beds, and 40 intermediate care beds, in addition to equipping 6 operating rooms and 100 chemotherapy chairs, and 4 radiotherapy stations. The institute also offers a master's degree in the following specializations: oncology and hematology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine, epidemiology and cancer control, pediatric oncology and hematology, and palliative medicine, and a doctorate degree in the following specializations: oncology surgery, oncology and hematology, radiation oncology, oncology biology, cancer epidemiology and control, and nuclear medicine. Prof. Ayman Ashour also laid the foundation stone for the Specialized Surgery Hospital at a cost of 5 billion pounds, a project that aims to provide specialized medical services in all surgical fields. The project focuses on providing an advanced training environment for medical students, enhancing medical scientific research, and improving the quality of healthcare. It also contributes to reducing pressure on public and private hospitals, and works to raise the level of medical services provided to citizens. For his part, Prof. Ayman Ashour praised the development and modernization work witnessed by Menoufia University in various medical and educational sectors, stressing that these efforts contribute significantly to enhancing the university's performance and achieving its mission as desired, appreciating the important role played by Menoufia University, with its distinguished scientific cadres and expertise in all specializations, which contribute to serving the educational, health and research system.

The Minister stressed that the Ministry pays great attention to developing medical and health services in university hospitals; as one of the main pillars in providing health services to citizens, alongside the Ministry of Health hospitals, in addition to their educational, training and research role in preparing highly qualified doctors, praising the great development witnessed by these hospitals thanks to the unprecedented support provided by the political leadership, noting that this comes within the framework of implementing the directives of the political leadership to improve the level of medical and treatment services provided to citizens, and in line with achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt's Vision 2030.

For his part, Prof. Ahmed El-Kased stressed the great interest that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research pays to supporting the implementation of development, educational and health projects in Egyptian universities, appreciating the interest, support and continuous follow-up from the political leadership to develop the health and educational system, pointing to the university's continuous endeavor towards development and modernization in various sectors; to be able to fulfill its role and perform its academic and societal mission in the best possible way, stressing the university's great interest in supporting the medical sector and developing the health and treatment services provided by the university; With the aim of providing decent health services to the people of Menoufia Governorate and neighboring governorates, explaining that university hospitals received more than two million patients during the past period.

It is worth noting that the number of university hospitals reached 145 hospitals, and they receive about 25 million patients annually, thanks to the great interest the state pays to developing and modernizing university hospitals, through pumping continuous investments that aim to improve the quality of health care, and provide medical services that keep pace with international standards, which made university hospitals gain the trust of citizens; due to the distinguished health services they provide.

The Minister was accompanied during the visit by Prof. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Nasser Abdel Bary, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Maher Mesbah, Secretary General of the Private Universities Council, Dr. Ahmed Anani, Advisor to the Minister for Health Policies, Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry, Prof. Mohamed El-Nomani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals at the University, Prof. Hossam El-Fol, Dean of the Oncology Institute, Prof. Osama Hegazy, Dean of the Liver Institute, Prof. Salah Hegazy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Mohamed Sabry, Executive Director of Hospitals at the University, Dr. Ekramy Gamal, Secretary General of the University, and Eng.
