Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, and Prof. Nasser Abdel-Bary, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Menoufia University achieved third place nationwide in the “100 Days of Sports” initiative among Egyptian universities.
Prof. El-Kased emphasized that this initiative is part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s plan to implement the Presidential initiative for human development “A New Beginning for Building the Individual”, with the participation of 32 universities across Egypt. The aim is to encourage students to actively engage in various sports activities, discover their talents, and build new friendships and relationships. He stressed that the University is committed to providing a stimulating sports environment that reflects its dedication to delivering the highest standards of educational and developmental services, while also fostering teamwork and fair competition among students. He added that the University is not merely a place for study, but also a place for shaping students’ personalities and identities.
Prof. Abdel-Bary also highlighted the importance of student activities in instilling values and nurturing teamwork among students, considering them a cornerstone in developing the educational system. He noted that the success of the “100 Days of Sports” initiative contributes to building a strong generation capable of facing future challenges. He extended his gratitude to all those who contributed to implementing the initiative at the University and ensuring its distinguished execution, which ultimately led to achieving this recognition.
Throughout the initiative, Menoufia University carried out numerous sports activities under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Shahin, Director-General of the General Administration for Student Welfare, and Captain Yasser Gamal, Director of the Sports Activities Department. A total of 125 days of sports activities were broadcast and documented, with the daily participation of no fewer than 100 male and female students, held at the University Stadium and the Olympic Swimming Complex, both during and after official working hours, in the mornings, evenings, and even on official holidays. These activities were supervised by Captain Moataz S. Younis (international referee and Sports Activity Supervisor), Captain Moataz B. Gawish, Captain Mostafa M. Ezz El-Rigal, Captain Mahmoud Darwish, Ms. Gehan S. El-Mohamady, and Ms. Hanady N. Youssef.
On the sidelines of the University Sports Federation meeting with directors of university sports at the Baltim camp, Captain Moataz S. Younis was honored as Coordinator of the Seventh Sector (comprising 15 universities). The recognition came as appreciation for his distinguished efforts in managing and organizing the Seventh Sector League, which was conducted in an exemplary and professional manner from 25 January to 6 February 2025. The league included tournaments in Futsal (male students), Table Tennis (male and female students), and Chess (male and female students), hosted at Menoufia University; Handball (male students) and Basketball (male and female students), hosted at Mansoura University; and Volleyball (male and female students), hosted at Kafr El-Sheikh University.
