The Supreme Committee for Updating Menoufia University’s Strategic Plan 2025–2030 held one of its regular meetings, chaired by Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, and attended by several members of the committee, including former University Presidents Prof. Saqr Ahmed Saqr, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim, Prof. Abbas El-Hefnawy, and Prof. Sobhy Ghoneim. Also present were Vice-Presidents Prof. Sobhy Sharaf (Community Service and Environmental Development) and Prof. Nasser Abdelbary (Education and Student Affairs), Prof. Ekramy Gamal (University Secretary-General), Prof. Hatem Sayed Ahmed (Dean of Computers and Information), Prof. Mohamed El-Noomany (Dean of Medicine), Mr. Islam El-Feshawy (Chairman of Sadat City Board of Trustees), and Prof. Wafaa Zahran (Director of the Quality Assurance Center).
The meeting was also attended by members of the Executive Committee for Reviewing and Updating the Strategic Plan: Prof. Rania Azmy (Vice-Dean of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development), Prof. Zeinab Abdelkhaleq (Vice-Dean of Engineering for Postgraduate Studies and Research), Prof. Nora Abdelmoez (Professor at the Faculty of Computers and Information and Director of the International Ranking Unit), Prof. Neha Osman (Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Center), Ms. Souad Bayoumi (Head of the Central Administration of the University President’s Office), Ms. Hala Saleh (Acting Assistant Secretary-General of the University), Mr. Wael Shahin (Director-General of the Secretary-General’s Office), and Mr. Ayman Badr (Director-General of the Strategic Planning Department).
Prof. El-Kased opened the meeting by expressing gratitude to all members of the committee for their efforts in reviewing and updating the strategic plan in light of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Egypt’s Vision 2030, and in response to the rapid transformations in the educational, technological, industrial, and economic landscapes aimed at achieving sustainable development goals. He emphasized that Menoufia University, comprising 23 faculties and institutes, is one of Egypt’s leading universities, providing distinguished academic and research programs, and continuously working to advance its capacities in education, research, and community service, thereby strengthening its standing locally, regionally, and internationally.
Prof. El-Kased stressed that the University is committed to updating its strategic plan to align with local, regional, and global developments. He noted that the new plan focuses on key pillars, including enhancing educational quality and academic accreditation, supporting research and innovation in alignment with societal and labor market needs, expanding international partnerships, advancing digital transformation, developing human resources, and strengthening the University’s role in community service. The plan aims to articulate a comprehensive vision that reflects institutional priorities for the coming five years in line with Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy.
He further highlighted that the new plan pays special attention to improving the efficiency of the educational process by updating academic programs, expanding interdisciplinary and joint programs with international universities, and promoting student activities and entrepreneurship. These efforts aim to graduate generations capable of competing locally, regionally, and internationally. The plan also targets doubling the University’s research output, increasing international publications, encouraging patents, and establishing specialized research centers, with scientific research placed at the forefront of the University’s priorities as a key partner in supporting sustainable development.
Prof. El-Kased clarified that the proposed plan was developed through extensive dialogue with all stakeholders—faculty members, students, and administrators—ensuring its inclusiveness and feasibility. The next phase will include setting clear implementation programs and measurable performance indicators to monitor progress, guaranteeing coherence between the plan and the University’s operational environment. The plan is designed to align with the updated Egypt Vision 2030 (2022), the Government Work Program 2024–2027, the National Strategy for Higher Education 2030, the revised Quality and Accreditation Standards (2022), and the Egypt Government Excellence Award. It also incorporates a roadmap for utilizing the 215-acre plot allocated for the University’s expansion in Sadat City.
During the session, Prof. Ekramy Gamal, University Secretary-General, delivered a detailed presentation on the proposed updates to the 2025–2030 strategic plan. He outlined several key stages to ensure consistency between the strategic dimensions of the plan and the evolving University environment. He emphasized that the most pressing drivers for the update include the urgent need to develop the University’s technological infrastructure, ensure the sustainability and growth of its diverse resources, and complete its institutional expansions to provide comprehensive educational, research, and healthcare services in light of knowledge diversity and competitiveness. He also underscored the importance of modernizing the University’s administrative system.
In his presentation, Prof. Gamal also reviewed the new University vision and mission, environmental analysis, strengths and weaknesses, and the general institutional goals. These include strengthening academic excellence, enhancing community responsibility and environmental development, upgrading and sustaining University infrastructure, expanding institutionally within a diverse and competitive knowledge economy, and modernizing the administrative system. He further outlined the strategic objectives, projects, initiatives, and national programs incorporated into the proposed plan.
