In line with the directives of Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, and the University’s keenness to expand avenues of cooperation with industrial sector institutions and link the educational process to labor market requirements, the Faculty of Home Economics organized a field visit to Giza Spinning, Weaving, and Ready-Made Garments Company in the Kafr Hakim area, Giza Governorate. The visit aimed to enhance joint cooperation and support the applied education system.
The visit focused on reviewing the latest production systems and modern technologies in the fields of spinning, weaving, ready-made garments, dyeing, and hosiery manufacturing, as well as discussing mechanisms to bridge the gap between academic study and practical application within factories.
Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, affirmed that the University places great importance on building effective partnerships with the industrial sector, stemming from its belief that integration between education and industry is a fundamental pillar in preparing qualified human resources capable of keeping pace with the evolving needs of the labor market.
He explained that cooperation with Giza Spinning and Weaving Company comes within the University’s strategy to support applied education, develop students’ and graduates’ skills, and link scientific research with practical application, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and serving the community. He also praised the spirit of cooperation and support demonstrated by the Company, stressing the University’s commitment to expanding successful partnerships with national industrial institutions.
The Faculty delegation included Prof. Ehab Ahmed El-Naasan, Dean of the Faculty of Home Economics, accompanied by Prof. Khaled Shaheen, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Medhat Morsi, Professor of Garment Manufacturing at the Department of Clothing and Textiles.
The delegation was received by the leadership of Giza Spinning and Weaving Company, headed by Eng. Farida Fadel Marzouk, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors; Brigadier Talaat El-Khatib, Head of Administrative Affairs; Mr. Tamer Hosny, Head of the Human Resources Sector; Mr. Mohamed Baz, Human Resources Manager; and Mr. Mohamed Qassem, Head of the Production Engineering Department.
The visit included an inspection tour of the Company’s various production departments, during which manufacturing stages and modern production lines were reviewed. Discussions were also held on ways to link academic curricula with advanced industrial applications, ensuring the preparation of graduates who possess both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
The visit resulted in a preliminary agreement for cooperation between the Faculty of Home Economics and Giza Spinning and Weaving Company. The agreement includes supporting the Department of Clothing and Textiles with modern machinery and fabrics to develop the practical training system, providing distinguished training opportunities for students and graduates within the Company, and offering specialized training scholarships for top graduates to China and several European countries through professional training and exchange programs in the field of ready-made garment manufacturing and production.
For his part, Prof. Ehab Ahmed El-Naasan emphasized that this cooperation reflects the vision of the Faculty and the University in linking education with industry and preparing graduates with practical skills capable of competing in the labor market. He also expressed his appreciation for the support provided by Giza Spinning and Weaving Company in advancing the educational and training system.
Meanwhile, Prof. Medhat Morsi praised the fruitful cooperation between the two sides, affirming that such partnerships represent a successful model for integrating academic and industrial efforts and directly contribute to supporting the clothing and textile sector and achieving sustainable development goals.
