Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced the success of a medical team at Menoufia University Hospitals and the Cancer Institute in performing a successful surgery to restore leg mobility for a patient suffering from a tumor compressing the spinal cord. This is part of the fruitful and ongoing cooperation between the Cancer Institute and the Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased noted that the patient was suffering from a tumor in the lung and rib cage that was compressing the spinal cord in the thoracic neural canal. The necessary tests were performed, and an urgent microscopic surgery was performed. The patient recovered successfully and regained full mobility.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased thanked the medical team, emphasizing the importance of fruitful cooperation between university hospitals, the Cancer Institute, and university medical facilities to provide integrated healthcare services to patients. He noted that

Integration between healthcare facilities is essential to improving the quality of healthcare, increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing the patient experience. Integration enables seamless information exchange between different departments, enhancing communication between medical teams and improving decision-making.

The surgery was performed under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed El-Noamani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Ahmed Sabry El-Gammal, Dean of the Oncology Institute; Prof. Mohamed Sabry, Executive Director of University Hospitals; and Dr. Mohamed El-Senbawy, Director of the Oncology Institute Hospital.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Mohamed Ahmed El-Naggar, Lecturer and Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Faculty of Medicine, under the supervision of Dr. Hossam El-Noamani, Head of the Neurosurgery Department, in collaboration with the Spinal Cord Compression Team, headed by Prof. Al-Shaimaa Mahmoud El-Hanafi, Professor of Oncology at the Institute.
