Under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, an integrated veterinary convoy was organized to the Veterinary Unit in the village of Melig, Shebin El-Kom District. The convoy was supervised by Prof. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ahmed El-Fayoumi, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Prof. Iman Baza, Vice Dean for Community Service Affairs. The convoy was conducted in cooperation with the University's Integrated Convoys Department, the Menoufia Veterinary Medicine Directorate, the Shebin El-Kom District Administration, the unit's veterinarians, and the Menoufia Veterinary Syndicate.
Prof. Ahmed El-Kased emphasized the university's commitment to developing livestock in Menoufia Governorate, providing healthcare services, disease prevention, improving livestock productivity, and raising awareness among breeders. This contributes to the development of livestock and the local economy by providing free veterinary services and medicines. This reduces the financial burden on breeders, encouraging them to care for their poultry and livestock and increase productivity.
The envoy added that the university's veterinary convoys contribute to providing practical training for college students, both male and female, under the supervision of experienced veterinarians, which contributes to their qualification for the labor market and enhancing their professional competence.
For his part, Prof. Sobhi Sharaf indicated that the convoy examined approximately (4,000) poultry cases, performed internal examinations on (50) cases, and performed ultrasounds on (70) animal cases, diagnosing and treating them. The necessary medications and vaccinations were also dispensed, and the animals were sprayed free of charge against disease-causing external parasites. This is intended to alleviate the burden on citizens, improve their standard of living, and develop livestock.
The convoy was attended by Major General Dr. Maged Abdel Zaher, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Veterinary Medicine in Menoufia, Dr. Sabry El-Fakharany, Director of the Care and Treatment Department, Dr. Amir Baqoush, Head of the Veterinarians Syndicate in Menoufia, Dr. Ahmed Ghallab, Treasurer of the Syndicate, Dr. Siham Hamdy, Director of the Veterinary Guidance Department, Dr. Ihab Fouad, Director of the Reproductive Care Department, Dr. Ihab El-Kholi, Director of the Shebin El-Kom Department, Dr. Mohamed El-Shorbagy, Inspector of the Melig Unit. The convoy included a number of professors and faculty members from the clinical departments of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Menoufia University.
