Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, held the monthly meeting of the Central Library and University Libraries Committees, with the participation of committee members online via electronic meeting platforms.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Kased congratulated the committee members and university staff on the approaching celebration of the night of the middle of Shaaban and the approaching advent of the holy month of Ramadan, calling on God to perpetuate the blessings of security and safety on Egypt under the wise leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased explained that during the meeting, the activities and events carried out by the libraries of the university's faculties and institutes during the month of January were reviewed, and the decisions that were implemented were followed up and the agenda of the two sessions were discussed.
El-Kased pointed out that the topics related to the work of the General Administration of University Libraries, the Central Library, the Digital Library, the Audio-Visual Library, and the work that has been done to inventory the libraries and add new books, periodicals, and encyclopedias that were purchased from the Cairo International Book Fair or donated to some college libraries were discussed. Some controls and guiding standards for accepting donated information containers to the university college libraries were also discussed, in addition to following up on the services provided by the digital library to researchers from faculty members, assistant staff, and graduate students.
El-Kased added that 120 doctoral and master's theses were received and saved, in addition to linking 20 theses to the FLS website during the month of January.
The university president also referred to holding a workshop for the employees of the audio-visual library in the General Administration of Libraries under the title “Modern Trends in the Field of Libraries and Information” and reviewed the latest developments in the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and global databases, the free publishing initiative and reference citation programs, creative thinking for the quality of services and the ongoing awareness service through Book Tube channels, and the use of artificial intelligence tools in scientific research.
