Menofia University scores third place at The Best Environment-Friendly University Competition, and University President receives the trophy from the Minister of Higher Education

Menofia University won third place at The Best Environment-Friendly University Competition, for the 20-50 years-old universities category. Prof. Ahmad Elkased, Menofia University President, received the award shield from Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at the official ceremony to declare competition results, which sidelined the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, held at Suez Canal University. This was attended by Major General Akram Galal, Ismailia Governor; Prof. Naser Mandour, Suez Canal University President; Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Universities; and Council members. The competition sought the best environment-friendly universities among public, private, national, and technological universities.

At the ceremony, the Minister of Higher Education stressed the importance of the role of universities in fostering the concepts of sustainability and preservation of the environment. He praised the universities' efforts to develop environment-friendly infrastructure and encourage student initiatives in support of green transformation. He also congratulated the winning universities and handed trophies to university presidents.

Prof. Elkased expressed his content with this accomplishment, which crowns the University's efforts in applying the criteria for environmental sustainability. He stressed that the University is following an integrated plan to support green transformation, enhance environmental awareness among staff and students, and develop projects that would improve the capacity of using energy and resources on campus.

Menofia University President pointed out the importance of the Best Environment-Friendly University Competition as one of the national initiatives that fosters the spread of sustainability culture within Egyptian universities. He noted that it helps motivate universities to upgrade their infrastructures, improve management of resources, and encourage innovative projects in the fields of clean energy and environmental preservation.

He added that the competition is a positive competitive venue that upholds the national vision in transforming towards a green economy and a community more aware of environmental issues. This should reflect the leading role of universities in supporting the national strategy for higher education, the goals of sustainability, and Egypt Vision 2030.

The University President said that scoring this advanced level reflects the University's commitment to carry out the Egyptian State's directives to support Egypt Vision 2030, and continue investing in infrastructure sustainability projects. He thanked all the sectors, administrations, and students who are participating in the efforts to preserve and develop the environment at the University.

Menofia University President praised the great part played by the community service and environmental development sector, led by Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice-president for Community Service and Environmental Development. He extended sincere thanks to all who took part in achieving this accomplishment, and praised their distinctive efforts to support the University's plans for green transformation and implementation of sustainability projects. He also added that this achievement is the fruit of collective work in which all University sectors, administrations, students, and staff took part. They presented a model to be followed in commitment, environmental awareness, and effective participation in promoting the University and achieving this impressive accomplishment.
