Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, chaired the meeting of the University’s Internationalization Committee as part of the university’s orientation toward enhancing its international openness and activating the role of scientific research in serving society and industry, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Nasser Abdel-Bari, Vice President for Education and Students’ Affairs; Dr. Ghada Hassan, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Hazem Saleh, former Vice President for Graduate Studies; Mrs. Soaad Bayoumi, Secretary-General of the University; in addition to a number of deans and committee members.
During the meeting, the University President emphasized that Menoufia University places top priority on linking scientific research with industry through the development of applied research plans, the implementation of industry-oriented graduation projects, and targeted marketing studies aimed at providing scientific and practical solutions to challenges facing various industrial sectors. This comes within the framework of activating the regional alliances adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education, thereby contributing to sustainable development and maximizing the economic return of scientific research outputs.
Dr. El-Kased explained that the university possesses real strengths that qualify it to play a pivotal role in this field, foremost among them the Faculties of Computers and Information, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Technology (IT), in addition to the advanced academic programs offered by the private university, as well as the distinguished research expertise of faculty members across various disciplines.
He further noted that Menoufia University has strong capabilities to provide technical and scientific support to the industrial sector, particularly in the fields of chemical, agricultural, and pharmaceutical industries, stressing that the university seeks to transform scientific research outcomes into implementable products and applications that serve industry and meet labor market needs.
In this context, Dr. El-Kased announced that a business incubator will be launched at the university within the coming days, aiming to support innovation and entrepreneurship, incubate knowledge- and technology-based ideas and startups, and link them with the industrial and investment sectors. This initiative will open new horizons for students, researchers, and graduates.
The University President also revealed the university’s efforts to establish specialized research centers of excellence to serve industry, and to sign cooperation protocols and strategic partnerships with a number of industrial companies and institutions. These partnerships aim to exchange expertise, provide training and employment opportunities for students and graduates, and support applied scientific research.
Dr. El-Kased stressed that the university provides full support to all relevant units and centers, affirming that the coming phase requires teamwork and an integrated institutional approach to unify efforts, maximize the utilization of human and material resources, and achieve the university’s objectives in internationalization, innovation, and serving industry and society.
He further affirmed that Menoufia University is steadily moving toward strengthening its position as a smart, knowledge-producing university and an active partner in economic and social development by linking education and scientific research to the needs of society and the labor market at the local, regional, and international levels.
The University President also directed the need to enhance the university’s position in international rankings through analyzing strengths, capitalizing on available opportunities, and formulating clear and specific recommendations that contribute to improving academic and research performance indicators and enhancing the competitiveness of Menoufia University locally and globally.
Moreover, Dr. El-Kased emphasized the importance of encouraging investment in education as one of the main pillars for achieving sustainable development, through expanding international academic partnerships with countries that have leading educational experiences, and exchanging expertise in educational and research fields to develop academic programs and enhance the efficiency of the scientific research system.
During the meeting, Dr. El-Kased reviewed the progress achieved in the university’s new electronic portal, stressing its pivotal role in supporting digital transformation, improving the quality of services provided to students and faculty members, and enhancing the institutional image of the university locally and internationally.
He also directed the establishment of a clear mechanism to support serious and impactful patents that contribute to serving society and addressing its challenges, while providing the necessary technical, administrative, and research support to transform innovative ideas into applicable projects, thereby promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the university.
