Coinciding with the celebrations of the 49th anniversary of Menoufia University, Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, and Major General Ibrahim Abu Leimon, Governor of Menoufia, inaugurated a number of new medical projects at the Emergency Hospital of the University Hospitals. The inauguration was attended by Mr. Mohamed Moussa, Deputy Governor; Vice Presidents of the University Prof. Sobhy Sharaf for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Nasser Abdel-Bary for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Ghada Hassan for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Ahmed Sabry, Dean of the Oncology Institute; and Dr. Mohamed Sabry, Executive Director of the University Hospitals.
These inaugurations come as part of the University’s 49th anniversary celebrations and represent an important step toward strengthening the medical sector within the University and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to thousands of patients who visit the University Hospitals. This is in line with the University’s continuous support for developing medical infrastructure and upgrading equipment in accordance with international standards, thereby improving both medical and educational services at the University Hospitals.
The inaugurated projects included the operation of the General Surgery Operating Unit at the Emergency Hospital, covering a total area of 750 square meters. The unit comprises six fully equipped operating rooms for general surgery, oncology surgery, and plastic surgery, in addition to a recovery room, doctors’ and nursing rooms, and fully equipped storage facilities that meet the highest quality standards. The total cost of the unit amounted to approximately EGP 6.5 million, significantly enhancing the Hospital’s capacity to provide advanced surgical services in accordance with the latest medical systems.
As part of the development of cardiac and cerebral catheterization services, the Multi-Purpose Catheterization Unit was also inaugurated. The unit spans an area of 180 square meters at a cost of EGP 4.5 million, representing a qualitative leap in diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization services within the Hospital. It contributes to improving medical performance rates and reducing the need to refer patients outside the Governorate. The cost of the catheterization device itself reached EGP 70 million.
In addition, the President of the University and the Governor inaugurated the Minor Operations Unit, which covers an area of 120 square meters and includes a main ward with seven beds, a critical care room with a capacity of two beds, and an examination room. This unit contributes to improving the efficiency of patient reception and enhancing the quality of care provided.
Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, affirmed that these projects are part of a comprehensive plan to develop the University Hospitals and equip them with the latest medical devices and facilities, serving educational, research, and therapeutic purposes. He explained that the extensive development and continuous modernization witnessed at the University Hospitals are in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to upgrade healthcare services and provide distinguished medical care for citizens across all governorates. He added that these inaugurations represent an important step toward increasing hospital capacity and offering specialized and advanced services that meet the needs of the Governorate’s residents and the surrounding region, in line with the State’s vision of building an integrated healthcare system that keeps pace with global medical advancements.
He further noted that the General Surgery Operating Unit and the Multi-Purpose Catheterization Unit constitute a strong addition to training programs, enabling students to deal with the latest medical systems. He emphasized that developing University Hospitals is a direct investment in citizens’ health and in preparing highly qualified medical professionals capable of serving the community efficiently.
The University President stressed the University’s commitment to supporting the medical sector by providing state-of-the-art equipment and enhancing the efficiency of surgical and therapeutic systems, affirming that the ongoing cooperation with the Governorate reflects a shared vision aimed at serving the community and raising the level of healthcare services provided to the residents of Menoufia.
For his part, the Governor praised the University’s efforts and its vital role in supporting the healthcare sector, affirming that continuous cooperation between the University and the Governorate contributes to providing better services for citizens and achieving a tangible improvement in healthcare standards within the Governorate. He added that the inauguration of these new medical projects represents a real addition to the healthcare system, commending the pivotal role played by Menoufia University and its University Hospitals in delivering distinguished medical and educational services. He noted that the Governorate places great importance on supporting the healthcare sector and providing an advanced medical environment, stressing that what has been achieved reflects the integration of efforts between executive bodies and the University to bring about a significant improvement in the quality of services provided. The Governor also expressed his appreciation and thanks to the work teams and everyone who contributed to completing these projects in record time.
Prof. Mohamed El-Nomany, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals, confirmed that the projects inaugurated today will bring about a qualitative shift in the level of practical and clinical training for faculty students and resident doctors, thanks to the modern equipment and newly developed spaces that provide an integrated educational and therapeutic environment. He noted that the University Hospitals operate according to a strategic plan aimed at strengthening their role as advanced centers for treatment, education, and training, upgrading medical departments, modernizing infrastructure, and providing the latest medical devices and technologies to serve patients and train students in line with global developments in medical education.
