Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced a new and distinguished advancement in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2026, one of the most prominent global rankings that assess universities based on their digital presence, the quality of their official websites, and their international academic impact. Menoufia University ranked 13th among Egyptian universities and 1138th worldwide among more than 20,000 ranked universities globally.
Prof. El-Kased affirmed that Menoufia University continues to make steady progress in international rankings, noting that this achievement is the result of sustained strategic efforts in scientific research, digital transformation, international academic publishing, and knowledge openness. These efforts have led to a remarkable improvement in digital and research performance indicators, strengthening the University’s position among established higher education institutions and reaffirming its standing on the global university map.
The University President explained that Menoufia University places great importance on international rankings as key indicators for measuring institutional performance quality and competitive capacity at both regional and global levels. He pointed out that the University is working continuously to improve its standing across various global rankings through strong support for scientific research and international publication in prestigious journals, development of digital infrastructure, enhancement of official websites, encouragement of academic openness and international research collaboration, as well as capacity building for academic and administrative staff. These efforts contribute to meeting global quality standards and enhancing the University’s international reputation in higher education.
Prof. El-Kased also emphasized that this achievement represents a clear indicator of the success of the University’s strategies in enhancing education quality, supporting international publication, and expanding global academic cooperation. He noted that the Webometrics ranking is among the leading global rankings, issued periodically to measure universities’ digital presence, online impact, the quality of available scientific content, and academic openness to the world. He stressed that this advancement is not merely a numerical ranking, but rather a strong testament to Menoufia University’s ability to compete among the world’s leading higher education institutions as a distinguished educational and research establishment.
In this context, the University President extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the teams responsible for international rankings, the Information Center, and all relevant sectors of the University, commending their dedicated efforts and teamwork that contributed to this notable progress in the Webometrics 2026 ranking.
Prof. Hatem Sayed Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information and Supervisor of the University Information Center, confirmed that this advancement in the Webometrics 2026 ranking reflects the intensive efforts exerted by the Center and the International Rankings Office. He noted that the work was carried out according to a strategic plan under the supervision of the University President, adding that the Information Center continues to support all University sectors in a manner that enhances Menoufia University’s competitiveness at the regional and international levels.
It is worth noting that the global Webometrics ranking is based on a set of scientific and digital indicators that assess university performance and academic impact worldwide. These include Visibility, which measures the volume and impact of external links to the University’s website; Transparency/Open Access, which evaluates the number of research citations received by scholars through global academic platforms; Research Excellence, which focuses on the quality of research published in high-impact international journals; and Presence, which measures the volume and quality of scientific and academic content published on the University’s official websites, reflecting its role in knowledge dissemination and the promotion of scientific research.
