Minister of Higher Education Congratulates Menoufia Engineering Team on Winning Second Place in Telemetry at the Shell Eco-Marathon 2026 with Support from the Innovators and Talents Support Fund

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, congratulated the team of the Faculty of Engineering at Menoufia University on winning second place in the Telemetry category at the Shell Eco-Marathon 2026, held in the State of Qatar.
Telemetry refers to the automatic remote transmission and collection of data from devices or systems to enable monitoring and analysis without direct human intervention. The team successfully designed an intelligent measurement system based on artificial intelligence to achieve optimal control of electric vehicles and enhance energy efficiency.
The Minister also extended his appreciation to the Innovators and Talents Support Fund for supporting the team’s participation, praising the team’s excellence over dozens of competing teams from around the world. He emphasized that this achievement strengthens the status and distinction of Egyptian universities, reaffirming his full support and encouragement for student teams from Egyptian universities to participate in regional and international competitions across various fields. He noted that Egypt possesses a vast human capital of creative youth capable of contributing effectively to the nation’s progress and development.
For his part, Dr. Tamer Hamouda, Executive Director of the Innovators and Talents Support Fund, affirmed that the achievement of the Menoufia Racing Team reflects the success of the innovation support ecosystem adopted by the Ministry. He highlighted the Fund’s continued commitment to empowering young minds and transforming their ideas into globally competitive achievements, thereby enhancing Egypt’s position in the fields of technology and innovation.
Dr. Hamouda also praised the performance of the Eco-Racing Team at Cairo University, which secured fourth place, and the Helwan Racing Team at the Capital University (formerly Helwan University), which achieved sixth place in the large vehicle category powered by an internal combustion engine. He stressed that these results demonstrate the outstanding capabilities of Egyptian students in engineering and sustainable energy and are the outcome of the Fund’s support within the framework of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030. He wished all teams continued success and further achievements.
