Menoufia University Organizes an Integrated Medical Convoy to Barasheem Village in Ashmoun Amid Wide Public Turnout

Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, and Major General Amr El-Gharib, Governor of Menoufia Governorate, Menoufia University organized an integrated medical and developmental convoy in Barasheem Village, affiliated with Ashmoun, within the framework of the university’s strategy to strengthen its societal role and support presidential initiatives aimed at improving the level of services provided to citizens in the most underprivileged villages. The convoy witnessed a remarkable turnout from village residents benefiting from the medical and awareness services provided.

The convoy was supervised by Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Supervisor of the Education and Student Affairs Sector, in coordination with Prof. Amr Mostafa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Menoufia; Prof. Suzy Hamed, General Coordinator of Presidential Initiatives; and Enas Mohieldin, Director of the Women’s Affairs Administration, Equal Opportunities and Population Units, and Director of the Child Protection Unit in the Governorate.

Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased affirmed that the university places community service at the forefront of its priorities and is moving steadily toward strengthening its developmental and humanitarian role through expanding the organization of medical and awareness convoys in the most needy villages, thereby achieving direct communication with citizens and meeting their health and knowledge needs.

The University President pointed out that integrated convoys represent one of the effective models of the university’s national role as a key partner in supporting the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable development and build the Egyptian citizen. He emphasized the university’s commitment to providing free high-quality services that contribute to improving quality of life, spreading health awareness, and alleviating burdens on citizens, in implementation of the political leadership’s directives to support the most vulnerable groups and strengthen the umbrella of social protection within the most needy villages and areas.

Prof. El-Kased further noted that the cooperation among Menoufia University, Menoufia Governorate, the Decent Life Foundation, the Directorate of Health Affairs, and the General Authority for Adult Education and Literacy reflects the integration of efforts among state institutions to serve citizens and provide integrated services combining healthcare, community awareness, and human development.

For his part, Prof. Sobhy Sharaf explained that the convoy witnessed notable attendance from village residents, where free medical examination and treatment services were provided in the specialties of chest diseases, internal medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, and dermatology through a distinguished group of specialized physicians.

He added that the convoy activities included several awareness seminars on family planning and its importance in supporting maternal and child health and improving family quality of life, in addition to another seminar on the early detection of chronic diseases and the importance of regular follow-up to reduce health complications.

The medical convoy was organized under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed El-Noamani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahed, Vice Dean for Community Service, in cooperation with the Convoys Administration at the University’s General Administration for Community Service.

The convoy also witnessed active participation from the General Authority for Adult Education and Literacy, where 23 literacy assessment sessions were conducted in support of the state’s efforts to combat illiteracy and enhance community awareness.

In the same context, the team of the Directorate of Health Affairs organized a specialized seminar on the early detection of breast cancer, addressing methods of self-examination and the importance of periodic screening within the framework of efforts to raise women’s health awareness. Blood glucose tests were also conducted for a number of citizens, and the necessary medical guidance was provided for the detected cases.

The convoy activities concluded with wide appreciation from the residents of Barasheem Village, who expressed their gratitude for the societal role played by Menoufia University and emphasized the importance of continuing such convoys due to their direct impact on supporting healthcare services and raising awareness levels within villages.
