Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, and the supervision of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in the presence of Dr. Ibrahim Tantawi, Head of the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, and Dr. Maha El-Tony, Faculty of Engineering, Shebin El-Kom, participated in the International Science and Technology Forum for Carbon Neutralization held from 20 to May 28, 2023, which was held in Guangzhou, China, which discussed many axes related to the green economy, sustainable development, and waste recycling in new, innovative and environmentally friendly ways.


El-Kased stressed the need to pay attention to promoting environmentally friendly products, as well as the optimal use of new and renewable energy, especially in light of the state and the world’s directions towards a green economy and sustainable development, and reducing harmful emissions and environmental pollution with a focus on innovation and the application of green and low-carbon technologies, which is a necessary condition for sustainability. He added that the coming period will use distinguished university cadres in developing the sustainable development file at Menoufia University, which comes within Egypt's Vision 2030.


For his part, Sharaf received Dr. Ibrahim Tantawi and Dr. Maha El-Tuni to discuss the most important outcomes of the scientific and technological forum in its sessions on waste recycling using green and environmentally friendly technologies.


Dr. Ibrahim Tantawy indicated that Menoufia University is in the process of applying and marketing the results of the university's innovative research projects, in cooperation with Queen's University Belfast, England, regarding the applications of environmentally friendly ionic liquids in the total transformation of biomass waste into liquid fuel and precious materials of high commercial and economic value, in cheap and environmentally friendly ways that help On the development of many green vital industries by using agricultural and household waste and converting it into a product of great value by using our technologies and benefiting from them in Egypt and England, and this came through his meeting with the English professor
