Dr. Ahmed El-kased , President of Menoufia University, participated in the meeting of the Council of Private Universities, headed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of Dr. Maher Mesbah, Secretary of the Council of Private Universities, Dr. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Acting Secretary of the Council of Private Universities, members of the Council, and Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the media advisor and official spokesman for the Ministry, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the Private Education Building in Cairo.


Dr. Ahmed El-kased pointed out that the Minister of Higher Education emphasized the importance of private universities’ participation in development projects, thanking all members of the Council of Private Universities for their efforts during the past period.


El-kased added that the Council agreed to begin applying for students wishing to enroll in private and private universities for the second semester, starting from Saturday, January 13, for a period of two weeks, with the same minimum limits for application in the first semester, and in the same method of direct application to universities. The Council also approved the establishment of 4 new colleges at the University. Nile University, and the start of studies in new programs at the Faculty of Engineering at Beni Suef National University, and the establishment of the Faculty of Human Medicine at Helwan University.


Dr. Ahmed El-kased said that the Minister of Higher Education reviewed during the meeting the system of private universities in the Egyptian state, noting that 20 private universities had been established, and studies had begun in 4 international private universities: “King Salman International, Al-Alamein International, Al-Galala, and New Al-Mansour Private.” Then Studies began in 12 private universities emanating from public universities, during the academic year 2022/2023, which are “Banha National University, Helwan National University, New Ismailia National University, Alexandria National University, Assiut National University, Mansoura National University, Beni Suef National University, Zagazig National University, South Valley National University, Menoufia National University, Minya National University, East Port Said National University,” in addition to the presence of 4 private universities, which are “Nile National University, Egyptian National E-Learning University, French National University in Egypt, and Misr University of Informatics.”


El-kased pointed out that Dr. Ayman Ashour appreciated the political leadership’s support for the higher education and scientific research system, and the interest in establishing private universities. To provide a distinguished educational experience for students, as well as to provide modern study programs that keep pace with the requirements of the local, regional and international labor market, stressing the necessity of cooperation and integration between universities, exchanging experiences, and establishing partnerships with prestigious international universities, noting that private universities possess great potential in the field of scientific research. and development, which can be used to implement development projects; Confronting the various challenges facing Egyptian society in all economic, social, health, and environmental fields in all governorates, and increasing cooperation with the “Decent Life” presidential initiative, by launching medical and development convoys to the villages most in need.


El-kased explained that the meeting discussed the visions of the presidents of private universities about preparing the internal regulations of private universities, and the basic standards and components that Benha Private University relied on in preparing the internal regulations, adding that the minister directed the holding of a workshop in the presence of the presidents of private universities to prepare the general frameworks for the internal regulations of the various private universities. .


The Minister also directed the necessity of taking advantage of the activities of the Cairo International Book Fair in its 55th edition during the mid-year vacation period, and providing all facilities to students to participate in the fair and attend the various and diverse activities organized by the fair, to spread culture and knowledge among university youth in a way that contributes to the development of their awareness and culture. And enhance their spirit of knowledge and learning.
