Dr. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, chaired a meeting of the University Internationalization Committee, aimed at coordinating efforts across various offices and departments to strengthen the university’s international standing. Key participants included the Office of International Relations, the Office of International Rankings, the Office for International Students, the Office of International Publications, Funded Projects, Innovation and Patents, Central Laboratories, and the TICO Office, all working to develop integrated, targeted plans to enhance the university’s competitiveness regionally and globally under the oversight of the university’s senior administration.
The meeting was attended by Vice Presidents: Dr. Sobhy Sharaf for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Nasser Abdelbary for Education and Students, Dr. Ghada Hassan for Postgraduate Studies and Research, former Vice President Dr. Hazem Saleh for Postgraduate Studies, University Secretary Dr. Ikrami Gamal, Ms. Souad Bayoumi, Head of the Central Administration Office, along with several deans and committee members.
Dr. El-Kased emphasized that internationalizing Menoufia University is no longer optional but essential to keep pace with global developments in higher education and research. He highlighted the university’s steady progress toward building sustainable strategic partnerships that enable academic, research, and innovation excellence, cementing its position as a leading regional and international university. The next phase will see ambitious plans to expand the university’s international presence through joint projects and attracting more students and researchers from around the world, showcasing modern Egyptian higher education.
The committee discussed mechanisms to maximize the benefits of signed or prospective international agreements with universities worldwide, providing broader opportunities for academic and research exchanges among faculty and students, stressing the importance of practical implementation to enhance the university’s international visibility.
Dr. El-Kased announced that Menoufia University is preparing to join the BRICS Universities Network in areas of shared interest, noting that this collaboration will strengthen the university’s international standing and open new horizons for scientific and applied cooperation.
Regarding international students, the meeting reviewed strategies for monitoring their academic and administrative status, overcoming obstacles, and offering innovative programs aligned with regional and international labor market needs, aiming to increase enrollment in undergraduate and postgraduate programs and enhance the university’s global image.
The president also highlighted the importance of enhancing faculty capacity to secure locally and internationally funded research projects, diversifying funding sources, and supporting applied research in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and Ministry of Higher Education policies, contributing to upgrading the university’s research and laboratory infrastructure, increasing international publications, and improving global rankings.
The Office of International Rankings was tasked with preparing a detailed report on Menoufia University’s ranking indicators over recent years, analyzing strengths and opportunities, and providing recommendations to enhance competitiveness both locally and internationally.
Dr. El-Kased emphasized encouraging investment in education as a pillar of sustainable development by opening avenues for academic partnerships with countries with advanced educational experiences and facilitating research and educational exchanges.
The meeting also explored expanding university-industry cooperation through technical consultations, applied research, and joint innovations in engineering, science, and medical fields, bridging academic expertise with industrial needs.
Faculty members presented successful experiences with international scholarships, particularly in Chinese universities, demonstrating the crucial role of internationalization in developing Menoufia University’s academic and research capacities and enhancing its global presence.
