Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, and Major General Ibrahim Abu El-Leimon, Governor of Menoufia Governorate, the University’s Convoys Administration, in cooperation with participating community entities, organized a comprehensive convoy to the village of “Mit Afia” in Shebin El-Kom District. The initiative aimed to enhance healthcare services and community awareness, with the participation of educational, executive, and service institutions, supported by the YLY youth initiative and university students from the village, as part of implementing the sustainable and model village development initiative. The event was held under the supervision of Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and attended by Dr. Mohamed Salama, Deputy Director of the Youth and Sports Directorate.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased stated that the convoy continues implementing the sustainable development initiative in “Mit Afia” through integrated activities and programs aimed at providing comprehensive healthcare, supporting students medically, educationally, and ethically, discovering talents at an early stage, raising health and environmental awareness, and strengthening youth participation in community work—contributing to human development and preparing an informed and qualified generation for the future.

He further affirmed that the convoy aligns with the Ministry of Health initiatives for early detection of kidney disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, in cooperation with specialized medical teams from Menoufia University Hospitals and the Faculty of Medicine, to prevent diseases, reduce complications, and promote a culture of prevention among citizens and students.

El-Kased added that the convoy conducted medical examinations for village school students to ensure their general health, detecting common health issues such as anemia, obesity, and stunting. It also supported students’ intellectual and cognitive development through activities aimed at discovering and nurturing talents, in cooperation with the Youth and Sports Directorate, the YLY youth initiative, and university students, to open appropriate support pathways for outstanding students.

For his part, Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that the convoy organized several awareness seminars on public health, proper nutrition, and healthy lifestyles, in addition to an educational and religious awareness session to promote positive values, discourage violence and bullying among students, and build balanced personalities for young people.

He also added that the convoy provided guidance to village residents on water conservation, safe drinking water use, and prevention of water pollution through an environmental awareness lecture aimed at avoiding practices that threaten the environment.

Beneficiaries included students from Al-Ahmadi Primary School, Martyr Ahmed Gharib School, Al-Shorbini Preparatory School, and the village’s Al-Azhar Institute. The medical examinations and awareness seminars were implemented with the participation of the Faculty of Home Economics, the Faculty of Media, the Menoufia Directorate of Health, the Youth and Sports Directorate, the YLY Youth Initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Menoufia Al-Azhar Region, the Directorate of Education, and the Menoufia Drinking Water and Wastewater Company.
