Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, held an expanded press conference with representatives of media outlets and journalists in Menoufia Governorate, during which he reviewed the University's most significant achievements over the past period and outlined its future development plans aimed at strengthening its academic, research, and community service standing. He affirmed that the University is entering a new phase of growth and expansion as it celebrates the Golden Jubilee, marking fifty years since its establishment.
The University President emphasized that the accomplishments achieved in recent years reflect the University's vision of building a modern educational institution founded on quality, innovation, and well-planned expansion, in line with Egypt's national objectives and the vision of the New Republic. He noted that the University is implementing a comprehensive strategic plan to enhance the quality of education, scientific research, medical and community services, while strengthening its competitiveness at both the national and international levels.
During the meeting, Prof. El-Kased highlighted the University's continued progress in international rankings, stressing its growing global presence as a reflection of the quality of its academic and research performance. He also pointed to the expansion of international academic and research cooperation, noting that Menoufia University currently maintains 12 international cooperation agreements, supporting academic and scientific exchange while creating broader opportunities for faculty members and students.
The President affirmed that quality assurance and accreditation remain among the University's highest priorities. The University continues to support its faculties and academic programs in obtaining both institutional and academic accreditation while enhancing monitoring and evaluation systems and promoting a sustainable culture of quality as a cornerstone for institutional excellence.
Regarding the education sector, he explained that the University continues to modernize its university textbook system, update academic content, expand digital transformation initiatives, and provide electronic course materials, thereby enhancing the educational process. He also reviewed the University's efforts in supporting international students and strengthening communication with alumni to benefit from their expertise in preparing students for the labor market.
In the field of scientific research, Prof. El-Kased emphasized the University's ongoing support for researchers through encouraging international publication, expanding applied research, and linking scientific research to community needs and sustainable development. He stressed that knowledge and innovation are the primary driving forces behind building a knowledge-based economy.
Turning to healthcare services, the President stated that the University Hospitals are undergoing comprehensive development to improve healthcare services and expand specialized medical care, alongside completing the digital transformation and automation of hospital medical and administrative services.
He also reviewed the future expansion plan for the University Medical Complex in Shebin El-Kom, which includes constructing the Northern Building of the Oncology Institute, specialized surgical centers, the Internal Medicine Hospital, several specialized medical centers, and an advanced research and training center on an area of 10 feddans.
Prof. El-Kased explained that the first phase includes constructing the Northern Building of the Oncology Institute on an area of 3,500 square meters with nine floors, following the completion of architectural designs, engineering studies, soil investigations, and geotechnical analyses in preparation for construction.
He added that the implementation of the Oncology Institute expansion has been assigned to one of Egypt's public sector companies, while financial allocations have been secured from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to begin construction in the coming period. The project is expected to be completed within three years, and he called upon civil society organizations and businessmen to contribute to supporting its completion.
He further noted that payments have been made to the South Delta Electricity Distribution Company to connect utilities as part of the infrastructure works. The second phase includes constructing the Specialized Surgical Centers Building on an area of 3,000 square meters, consisting of nine floors, with design work currently nearing completion in preparation for implementation.
Within the framework of the University's urban expansion and investment plans, Prof. El-Kased stated that significant progress has been achieved regarding the development of the University's 200-feddan land in Sadat City. A new site has been allocated along Central Axis No. (1), adjacent to universities and the Technology Zone.
He explained that all legal procedures for transferring the assets to the University have been completed, approximately 40% of the external boundary wall has been constructed, utility connection fees have been paid, and a groundwater well has been established in preparation for constructing the Faculty of Agriculture's educational farm.
The President also announced the launch of partnership procedures to establish a branch of an international university, in addition to including the Menoufia Technological National University project within the University's investment plan for the 2026/2027 fiscal year.
He explained that the new university will initially comprise five faculties offering 16 specialized academic programs in technology, artificial intelligence, advanced industries, energy, and health sciences.
He further announced that the University has allocated a temporary campus at the University's El-Raheb buildings to begin academic activities in the 2026/2027 academic year, pending completion of the permanent campus in Sadat City.
Regarding the University's societal role, Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased emphasized that Menoufia University places great importance on raising community awareness and human development as part of its national responsibility to support Egyptian family stability and promote social cohesion.
He noted that the University has recently implemented numerous awareness initiatives and educational programs to combat domestic violence through seminars, workshops, and dialogue sessions targeting students and community members. These initiatives aim to promote a culture of dialogue, mutual respect, awareness of the social, psychological, and economic impacts of domestic violence, while introducing available support and protection mechanisms and encouraging a shared sense of social responsibility.
He explained that these efforts are implemented through cooperation between the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, various faculties, and relevant authorities, within the University's plan to promote community empowerment and improve quality of life. He stressed that the University's mission extends beyond education and scientific research to include active participation in addressing societal challenges.
Prof. El-Kased also highlighted the University's commitment to developing sports facilities and expanding student activities, announcing the imminent issuance of a decision to establish the Menoufia University Sports Club to enhance the University's sports infrastructure.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased affirmed that these projects represent the beginning of a new era in the history of Menoufia University and embody its future vision of becoming a modern, integrated university that combines academic, research, and community excellence while contributing effectively to Egypt's comprehensive development efforts and the realization of the New Republic.
