Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, announced the commencement of operations of the latest laser and endoscopic surgical systems at the Department of Urology Surgery of the University Hospitals. The advanced medical equipment was provided through a generous donation from businessman Haj Salah Khattab, further strengthening the capabilities of the University Hospitals and enabling the delivery of advanced medical services in accordance with the latest international healthcare standards. This initiative aligns with Menoufia University's strategy to modernize the healthcare system and enhance the quality of medical services.
The University President met with Haj Salah Khattab to express his sincere appreciation for his continued support of the University Hospitals. The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed El-Noamani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals; Prof. Ahmed Sabry, Dean of the Oncology Institute; and Prof. Mohamed Sabry Ammar, Executive Director of the University Hospitals.
During the meeting, Prof. El-Kased emphasized that this donation represents a significant addition to the University's healthcare system and reflects an exemplary model of community partnership in supporting the health sector. He noted that the new equipment will enhance the efficiency of medical services, expand the capacity to perform advanced surgical procedures, alleviate patients' suffering, reduce waiting lists, and provide the highest standards of healthcare for the people of Menoufia Governorate and neighboring governorates.
Prof. El-Kased affirmed that Menoufia University continues to implement a comprehensive plan to develop its University Hospitals by modernizing medical infrastructure and introducing the latest diagnostic and therapeutic technologies across various specialties. These efforts contribute to improving healthcare services, advancing medical education and scientific research, and reinforcing the University's position as a leading medical and academic institution serving the Delta region.
He further noted that these developments coincide with the continued implementation of the Medical City Project, one of the University's largest healthcare initiatives, which reflects its long-term vision of expanding healthcare capacity and providing integrated medical services in accordance with the highest international standards. He added that the ongoing advancement of the University's healthcare sector also coincides with the celebration of Menoufia University's Golden Jubilee, marking fifty years of achievements and reaffirming the University's commitment to continuous development and excellence in serving society and enhancing both healthcare and education.
The University President also stressed that investment in advanced medical technologies represents a key pillar in the development of the healthcare system, given its vital role in improving treatment outcomes, minimizing complications, shortening hospital stays, and providing safer and more efficient medical care. He affirmed that the University welcomes all community initiatives supporting the healthcare sector, emphasizing that all donations are accepted only after fulfilling all applicable administrative and legal requirements with complete transparency to ensure they are directed toward serving patients and maximizing their impact.
Meanwhile, Prof. Mohamed El-Noamani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals, attended the official launch of the new equipment at the Department of Urology Surgery, accompanied by Prof. Mohamed Sabry Ammar, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; Prof. Sami El-Dahdouh, General Director of the University Hospitals; Prof. Alaa Efat, Director of the Main Hospital; and Prof. Mohamed El-Shazly, Head of the Department of Urology Surgery.
Prof. El-Noamani affirmed that the University Hospitals continue to implement a comprehensive modernization plan across all medical departments by equipping them with the latest technologies in line with international medical advancements. These efforts will enhance the quality and efficiency of healthcare services while strengthening the hospitals' capacity to perform highly specialized surgical procedures and achieve improved treatment outcomes.
He also noted that the donation was accepted in full compliance with the applicable laws and regulations after completing all required legal procedures, reaffirming the University's commitment to transparency and adherence to all regulations governing the acceptance of donations and the provision of medical equipment.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Sabry Ammar, Executive Director of the University Hospitals, stated that equipping the Department of Urology Surgery with these advanced technologies represents a major enhancement to the University's healthcare capabilities. He explained that the new systems will improve operating room efficiency, expand the capacity for performing complex minimally invasive procedures, reduce patient waiting times, and support the delivery of healthcare services at the highest quality standards.
Prof. Mohamed El-Shazly, Head of the Department of Urology Surgery, explained that the department has been equipped with a Thulium Laser System, a Holmium Laser System, and a range of advanced endoscopic surgical instruments. He noted that the Thulium Laser is among the most advanced laser technologies used worldwide in the treatment of various urological tumors, offering exceptional precision in tissue resection, minimizing bleeding, accelerating patient recovery, and reducing hospital stays.
He added that the Holmium Laser is internationally recognized as one of the most effective technologies for the endoscopic fragmentation of kidney, ureteral, and bladder stones, thanks to its high precision and effectiveness in treating stones of various sizes and compositions. He emphasized that introducing these advanced systems marks a significant milestone in the Department's capabilities, enabling the expansion of advanced surgical procedures and improving treatment outcomes in accordance with the latest international medical standards.
