A New Milestone for Menoufia University: Prof. Ahmed El-Kased Joins the Executive Office of the Supreme Council of Universities and Presents the University's Energy Efficiency Experience

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, participated in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU), chaired by Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture. The meeting was attended by Prof. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, along with university presidents and Council members, at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the New Administrative Capital.

Prof. El-Kased stated that the Council opened its meeting by extending congratulations to Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa on the confidence placed in him by the political leadership and his appointment as Acting Minister of Culture, wishing him continued success in advancing the higher education and cultural sectors in support of Egypt's national development goals.

During the meeting, the Supreme Council of Universities approved the appointment of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased as a member of the Executive Office of the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities. The decision reflects the Council's confidence in his academic and administrative expertise and recognizes his valuable contributions to advancing university education, supporting higher education policies, and strengthening the competitiveness of Egyptian universities at the national, regional, and international levels. It also represents further recognition of Menoufia University's distinguished standing and influential role in supporting the development of Egypt's higher education system.

Expressing his appreciation, Prof. El-Kased described the Council's decision as both a great honor and a significant responsibility. He affirmed that this confidence serves as a strong motivation to continue contributing to the development of higher education and scientific research in alignment with the Egyptian state's vision and the directives of the political leadership.

The University President also extended his sincere appreciation to Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, as well as to the members of the Supreme Council of Universities, for their confidence. He reaffirmed his commitment to working collaboratively with fellow university presidents and Council members to formulate policies that enhance the quality of higher education and scientific research while advancing the objectives of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt Vision 2030.

During the Council meeting, Prof. El-Kased presented Menoufia University's experience in improving energy efficiency and promoting energy conservation. He explained that the University is implementing a comprehensive strategy to transform into a more sustainable institution by enhancing energy efficiency across all campus facilities, expanding the use of smart management systems, implementing electricity and water conservation programs, and adopting energy-efficient lighting technologies in line with Egypt's green transition and the Sustainable Development Goals under Egypt Vision 2030.

He further noted that the University's efforts extend beyond infrastructure development to promoting a culture of responsible resource utilization among students and staff, while integrating sustainability concepts into various academic and extracurricular activities. These initiatives contribute to improving operational efficiency, reducing resource consumption, and strengthening the University's performance in international sustainability rankings and indicators.

Prof. El-Kased added that the Council discussed several strategic issues of priority to Egypt's higher education sector. The Minister of Higher Education emphasized the importance of completing all preparations for the electronic university admissions process, ensuring the readiness of university computer laboratories, and providing students with the necessary technical and advisory support throughout all admission stages.

The University President affirmed that Menoufia University has finalized its preparations for the upcoming electronic admissions process by equipping its computer laboratories and assigning qualified technical teams to provide guidance and assistance to students and their families, ensuring an efficient and seamless admissions experience.

The Council also emphasized the importance of strengthening universities' role in promoting students' awareness, reinforcing national identity and belonging, and combating extremist ideologies through sustainable educational, cultural, and intellectual initiatives implemented in cooperation with various state institutions. In addition, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to advancing scientific research and innovation by strengthening links between research outcomes and industry and transforming research into practical applications and economically valuable products.

In this regard, Prof. El-Kased affirmed that Menoufia University places great emphasis on raising students' awareness through diverse cultural, intellectual, and student activities that foster patriotism, encourage constructive dialogue, promote acceptance of others, and support cooperation with state institutions in addressing extremist ideologies while developing well-rounded graduates capable of making positive contributions to society.

During the meeting, the Council also approved the Comprehensive Framework for Evaluating the Performance of Egyptian Universities as a national reference for enhancing institutional performance, strengthening governance, and improving the competitiveness of Egyptian universities. The Council further discussed a proposal to introduce an additional promotion pathway for faculty members based on innovation and the commercialization of research outcomes into products with economic value, supporting Egypt's transition toward a knowledge-based economy.

Concluding his remarks, Prof. El-Kased affirmed that Menoufia University continues to implement its strategic plan for advancing education and scientific research, promoting innovation and sustainability, and enhancing institutional performance in alignment with the policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Supreme Council of Universities, while reinforcing the University's role in serving society and supporting the objectives of the New Republic.

He also noted that the Council's discussions on advancing scientific research and innovation are fully aligned with Menoufia University's strategy to strengthen applied research, connect research outcomes with the needs of industry and the labor market, and encourage researchers to transform innovative ideas into practical applications and products that contribute to the national economy and sustainable development.
