Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, attended the conference announcing the winning projects in the National Initiative for Green Smart Projects in the governorates of "Gharbia, Menoufia, Kafr El-Sheikh" in its third session under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, hosted by Gharbia Governorate in the Grand Conference Hall at the General Diwan of the Governorate, in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Issa, Deputy Governor of Gharbia, Dr. Amr El-Bishbishi, Deputy Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, Dr. Abdel Razek Desouky, President of Kafr El-Sheikh University, Dr. Amani El-Sheikh, Vice President of Kafr El-Sheikh University, Major General Ahmed Anwar, Secretary-General of Gharbia Governorate, Engineer Ali Abdel Sattar, Assistant Secretary-General of Gharbia Governorate. And a group of executive and popular leaders in the three governorates.

Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, expressed his happiness with the achievements of the university's students and faculty members during their participation in the initiative, pointing out its importance in stimulating creative ideas and applying innovative environmental treatments on the ground, which contributes to confronting the effects of climate change, stressing the effective role of the university in raising awareness of environmental issues and their risks, in addition to the university's constant keenness to conduct scientific research and various environmental activities.

The President of the University pointed out that the goals of the initiative support the efforts of the Egyptian state towards green transformation and achieving comprehensive and sustainable development, and enhance opportunities for environmental and climate investment and environmentally friendly solutions in various governorates, in addition to the initiative's compatibility with the Sustainable Development Strategy and Egypt's Vision 2030, and the goals of the National Strategy for Climate Change in Egypt 2050, which establishes the importance of integrating mechanisms for adapting to climate change in various development programs and projects.

The ceremony witnessed a review by the ambassadors of the three governorates to explain in detail their winning projects.

The Ambassador of Menoufia Governorate also reviewed his Panova project - presented by Enactus Menoufia - a distinguished group of students from Menoufia University, which aims to transform banana cultivation waste in Egypt into sustainable economic opportunities by providing innovative environmental solutions. The Enactus Menoufia team created the Panova project as a comprehensive solution aimed at recycling banana waste and converting it into value-added products that contribute to improving the environment and strengthening the local economy.

Two university projects also won in the field of waste recycling project and the pioneering woman project in the field of smart green projects.

For his part, Major General Ibrahim Abu Limon, Governor of Menoufia, thanked the Governor of Gharbia for hosting this important and vital event and participating in this conference to honor the owners of the winning projects in the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in its third session, based on the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to implement the national initiative, which aims to find innovative solutions and ideas for environmental problems by integrating the environmental dimension and modern technology in project planning, within the framework of Egypt's preparations to participate in the COP 29 Climate Conference scheduled to be held in the city of Baku in the State of Azerbaijan, in order to achieve the sustainable development strategy and implement Egypt's Vision 2030 and attract the necessary investments towards preserving the environment, improving the quality of life and reducing the effects of climate change. ️Major General Ashraf El Gendy, Governor of Gharbia, expressed his happiness at organizing this important conference to honor the winning projects within the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in the three governorates in preparation for Egypt's participation in the COP 29 Climate Conference scheduled to be held in Baku in Azerbaijan, stressing that smart green projects are the way to the future. The initiative launched by the government is a pioneering initiative in the field of sustainable and smart development and dealing with the environmental dimension and the effects of climate change.

️At the end of the meeting, the 52 projects were honored, including 18 projects for Kafr El Sheikh and Menoufia Governorates and 16 projects for Gharbia Governorate, in appreciation of their fruitful contributions to the success of the initiative and maximizing the state's role in dealing with the environmental dimension and climate change. The governors also exchanged commemorative shields.
